There really is a lost town down in the valley. My grandfather lived in the Newnes shale mining town as a small boy. There is very little left to see now. All the wooden houses are long gone.

We've been living in the area for almost 8 years, and I've seen video of the Lost CIty before, but I assumed it was out past Newnes somewhere. Now, I go to a map and discover that it's less than 5 kms as the crow flies from my house. Time to start exploring the area! Great video.

Thanks Andrew, it's well worth the trip, you'll need a 4WD to get out there, as you can see amazing landscapes.

Well done, great video. There was a global super-civilization here before the great Terra-Tsunami wave that separated Australia from Antarctica by washing away the land and destroying that city amongst others.

Amazing! I'd never heard of that place before. Thanks for introducing it.
I was just back home in Oz and went to Wilson's Prom. Been there many many times and thought I had a pretty good idea of what's there. Then my Dad told me about "The Big Drift". It's like a desert in the middle of the bush. A huge sand dune above the tree line. Do you know it?
Australia is just so big. You think you've heard of all the places or you know a spot and then there is something else just around the corner.

Oh wow. I have never even heard of the Lost City and it's just across the proverbial road from my hometown. Of course the name speaks for itself literally in a figurative sense. Abandoned and broken buildings in a town that once was. This film is extraordinary and this location ushers feelings of isolation and loneliness while showcasing more of Australia's exceptional uniqueness and rugged beauty. Thoughts of the Three Sisters kept popping into my mind and yet, amusingly it was like the poorer relatives residing in the more distant and less expensive suburb. Each individual monolith seems to carry the history of a lost soul from ancient times, yet the overall landscape while scary, is provocative and magnificent. Like the pages of a closed book, the crushed layers of time are compacted and hidden inside the stillness and like the city, not so much lost as waiting to be discovered again and again. Amidst the severest peaks and sultry plateaus where Rodin's Thinker might have come to contemplate, our tour guide shows us wild flowers that help us take a breath. Another incredible job, Phil, you never cease to amaze. Thank you.

Thanks Grant, I lived in the Blue Mountains in the 80s and early 90s and I'd never heard of the Lost City until a few years ago either. As you can see its a remarkable landscape. Your descriptions are like poetry Grant, I only wish I could write such beautiful descriptions of my own work. Take care buddy, Cheers Phil.

I'm smiling, Phil. Thing is, you don't need to write when your work speaks volumes and so much better than anyone else could. By the way, I forgot to mention the music. Perfect.
