  • Nothing to see here except a really fun song I love to play...
    "I Thank You" by ZZ Top is pretty straightforward blues/rock goodness, but the solo is a fantastic example of simple and effective.

    Great tune , i love this track, sam and dave did it too. But i didnt know that til decades later. Deguello was a cool album given to me as a kid, still love it 40 years later

      @geraldhoffpauir4058:
      Naw, man. When you're havin' life issues is exactly when you SHOULD play, dude.
      That's how/when you learn to play the Blues with feeling!
      Don't try to do anything complicated, just work on making sounds...
      like a root plus flat 7th.
      Try it using different strings, until you get the sound you want.
      Try bending one or both strings.
      Once you get a sound you're liking,' then just try "resolving" to a different note (or even a pair of notes).
      You might be surprised at what you come up with!
      I'm my case, if I do it for a little bit, then I come up with some awesome lead improvisations.

    Excellent as always. Love it. Great tip to apply the same rhythm pattern to different notes. Thanks again.

    Dear Griff,
    love your courses, but this time i think the counting is a little bit off.
    Listening to the original version off Degüello to me there rather seems to be a triplet feel in the bend of the main solo-lick.
    I'd really like to know your thoughts about it.
