THE END OF VAR IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE? | BURNLEY V NOTTINGHAM FOREST PREVIEW

- Nottingham Forest head to Turf Moor to face Burnley in the final Premier League game of the season. They could still technically be relegated alongside their hosts if Luton Town win by a huge margin and Forest are heavily beaten at the same time on Sunday. That looks extremely unlikely but it is still a big game for Forest and Nuno as they look to make sure they end the season on a high note. #nffc
Matt Davies is joined by Greg Mitchell and Mikey Clarke to preview the game in full and we'll also discuss the potential end of VAR ahead of a vote from Premier League clubs after a proposal from Wolves.

If Murillo or MGW goes, we can theoretically keep returning Mangala (if the purchase clause is not triggered). Richards could be coming back into Forest. Aguilera could be coming in (or one more season out on loan, in the Champ this time). Sangare should become like a dream new signing. Neco, Omobalidele, Danilo, CHO, Elanga all 1 year older. All that costs zero money in transfer fees and we have HUGE wage bill trimmings with expiring contracts and loan players.

1/ Unpopular opinion but Mr M has a point. Im a planner & happy to come on & talk about it: The current site is too constrained to deliver the pretty pictures that architects have circulated this week. None of the pretty pictures architects have put out this week will get planning permission. The club will have of course considered redevelopment as an option. They would have to buy up all the surrounding houses (whole streets) to make the architect plans remotely acceptable.
2/ meanwhile Toton is an allocated site, free of constraints & is connected to tram & national highways network. Could even have a train station. It makes sense in planning terms - if not emotionally. To be clear as a Forest fan, I would love us to stay. But I also want us to progress and expand and as a planner, I am pretty sure the current site can’t deliver this.
Good points, clearly articulated, won't be popular!! 😅
@@kc8923I will get my tin hat. As a planner I’m used to be unpopular 🤣
I hope Matt takes you up on your offer , and has you on the podcast , it'd shine a light on what can and cannot be achieved 👍♥️
Something like Toton would be awful let's be real here, and I get the point about the houses, but its still not impossible if it causes problems, and looking at the other stands like PT and BC and even the TE you can definitely add more to them, I mean the option was already planned about when they were announcing the plans to do both PT and B stand to get to 40k. And at the end of the day work can be done to improve and extend the stadium, we could get like 45K, and the vast majority of fans don't want it, to me it will be him shooting himself in the foot.
Matt come on mate, we’ve actually accumulated 33 points at the moment haven’t we!!!
The table is the table and we can only work with those parameters.

I think Nuno will come good. It'll be a more organised, settled preseason.
Looking forward to a break 😂
Nice shirt Mikey. Heading to Sorrento next week on my honeymoon 👍🏽
I went on my honey there in 1997 would recommend it. Divorced now but the honeymoon was nice 😂
Totally agree Mikey. That location by the Trent is incredible and means so much to us.
Top Pod! I hope Gregg is ok . :)
The green 3rd shirt came out in 91/92,I wore mine to Wembley against Man U, I still wear it now.😁👋⚽COYR
I know Wood has sort of saved us this season, however,if hed had scored some pretty easy goals as of late we would be safe by now by a good margin, other players as well have missed sitters, its a big problem that needs addressing,
The Boly incident is a prime example of people not really understanding what they’re asking for.
Unless it’s a straight red, all yellow cards may lead to red so you have to bring all yellow cards into scope.
so pleased to see happy Mikey back after this weekend! Very sensible positive view on the squad!!!
Good for Wolves with their proposals. If we had done that the Prem would have dismissed us out of hand. Scrap it 👍
Given the reality of FFP and our recent history a 3rd season in the PL is a success, look at the wealth of the top 8 teams. Personally id take 14th or 15th with 40 points next season. Aim for 45 the season after.
Steady progress over the next few years
Green one was labbats shipstones crossover season
be careful what you wish for. I like it tbh...and isnt it looking to be semi automated next season?
Not a popular opinion, but for the long term future of forest we have to move into a bigger stadium. Unless the economic world of football changes / reverses the trend of becoming more lucrative year-on-year, we will get left behind. Sucks, I know, but when life gives you lemons you have to make lemonade and this is how. Where we move to is subject to discussion, but let’s take the emotion out of it and think what’s best for the club and future generations of fans.
That being said…Maybe playing tier 2-3 football is the best thing when you consider the state of the premier league!
It's fair to say, a strong performance and win at Turfmoor will deliver that feel good factor (including for the manager) that left us on Saturday when Chelsea re-took the lead. Youuu reds!
Why do we have to sell our best players when we got a few deadwood players we can sell? Josh bowler, Lewis O'brien, Dennis, the list goes on. Surely we could coup 30+million from all those players. Maybe it's just me wanting to keep our better players and saying goodbye to the crap :(
Hard to move players on who are still under contract and on decent wages. Would Dennis for example move if it meant a wage drop? Would anyone pay his wages and £10m transfer fee? I cant see it.
So the aim/dream for me next season is to be out of the relgation fight, so a bit higher but more realistic🙂
14th or 15th with 40 points would be progress.
Get moriniho in ASAP
So if Taiwo is fit next year and Sangare steps up its a whole different picture eh?
NO TO TOTON
If Mr marinakis is as ambitious as he says he is he will keep murillo and just Improve the squad
I’d try and persuade Mangala to remain, keep Murillo and MGW, sell Awonyi, Dennis, Sangare, Montiel, McKenna, Worrall, O’Brien, release Wood, and all the loan players except Aina. Buy a top big centre half and two new striker. Leaner squad, lower wage bill and stay within the rules. Stop debating Murillo and MGW, they’ve gotta stay surely.
Lol. Introducing the guest that hasn't joined rather than Mikey who was there 😂
Nuno had a fair crack his results are shit no better than Cooper want a proper premier league manager now
Will fifa approve of getting rid of var.
Dont think its their decision in the PL? Would still be in place in World and european competitions.
There is no real prospect of Nuno being sacked, even if we lose v Burnley.
Good in my opinion. Pre season, no Afcon or points deduction should give him a better chance to improve the team and performances.
Sweden rejected var so it's not used in sweden🙂
Always felt the Swedes were a sensible nation! I thought VAR would be an improvement but its been shocking.
