Lol the last 10 seconds of the video is real life. I hate those moments when everything falls and you don't have extra hands to help.
Nice job and love the soft close feature. Unfortunately your spouse will now want all the drawers to be soft close 😂
i can 1,000% recommend changing the slides. i did it in my kitchen and it is sooooo nice. life improvements are important.
That kitchen is gloriously in 1998. hehe, Useful video!
Thank you, Matt. I was just talking to my brother and my daughter, the other day telling them that I wanted to change the drawer slides and the cover door closers and this video is perfectly timed. Now I’m not afraid to do it. Thanks again. 😊👍
You made a otherwise daunting job manageable. Thanks for the comprehensive explanation and instructions.
For reference, Blum, Accuride, Hettich, Fultrer, Knape & Vogt, and Richelieu are the most common brands out there. Blum being the best option for undermount drawer slides and the easiest method for installing drawer slides, of course if it's possible to do an undermount in a situation.
I used to work at a cabinet ecommerce company.
The blooper clip is exactly what I would expect. lol I may try this on one of my kitchen drawers that just likes to fall out all the time. It is dangerous. Thank you.
Excellent fix and upgrade. Those cabinets are really well made. I wouldn't tear those out. You could order new door panels and put new hardware and stone countertops and it will look like a 60000.00 kitchen.
Those bloopers were......
Level Headed. HA
THANKYOU ! My kitchen is 64years old, and i quite like it apart from the drawers that run wood on wood, so make the cupboards below dusty. Im going to use this video, and another to make the grooves in the drawersides, to fix them! 😊
Lovin the series of idiot proof instructions. I actually had this issue with a kitchen drawer. Fixed it more or less the way you did. Thanks for vid. Later 😅
The video I’ve been waiting for yes sir
Thank you! Mine needs replacing!
Thanks for the blooper at the end I bet you just feel like a kid when you didn't get what you want!!!😅 I have a drawers dresser that needs that in every single drawer how am I going to do that if there's no space to get into it like you just did... oh boy!!!!😢😨 Thank you anyway. 👏👏👏
Thanks, Fixer!
Something I need to do, so this is wonderful! Thank you!
Great work, now you just need the rest. 🤩👍
Eggcellent !
I've enabled the like button fer ya!
As always, useful tips.
Thanks. I have the exact same old drawer slides in my bedroom dresser and the storage drawers under my platform bed. I've been thinking of refinishing both for a while and this would be a great upgrade.
Great job and loved the video 😘👍🏻💕💕
That phone jack just above that drawer looks to be in a funny location.
If you do tile, it will be half on and half off.
Good job on the slides.
I tried to install those on our kitchen drawers and failed miserably. I may try again…
Then again, I am willing to bet I end up like you did in the outtake 😂
thx Matt 👍
Can this also work with drawers in a dresser?
Another great video :)
No slam...so nice.
lol, good job!
The Fixer 👍
Great vid. Now can you show us how to install hidden soft close hinges on the cabinet doors? I think they require a forsner bit possibly? Thanks.
Paint the cabinets! And design the soffit with molding that looks like more cabinets
My big pull out drawers are a disaster. Cannot wait to see what you do to fix this.
Oh my gosh, Matt! I just moved into a somewhat fixer and the kitchen drawers definitely need to be redone. Thank you for posting this! 🎉

At first I thought you were going to just organize your junk drawer..... 😁
I don't have any drawer slides. My cabinets & drawers are original to the house, built in 1945, craftsman. The kitchen was built in place from plywood, stained & varnished. They all work, they just look a bit outdated because of the color. Sometimes a few drawers stick, being I'm in Florida with our humidity, it's expected. Just the quirks of owning an old house.
I just bought a trailer built in 1982 and my drawers have center sliders that keep fall out of place and I HATE them. The way they're set I don't even know if I can do side sliders...
Could I change out semi full pull out to full extension? Not sure if that’s possible. Could you (or someone) let me know? Thanks!
You can! Thats what I did with my 1982 house. Just make sure your new slides are “full extension” and get the same length as your drawers.
P sure that's exactly what he just did with his drawer. When he first opened it, it didn't come out all the way.
Great video Matt. I have one question, what is the 1 and a quarter you speak of? Ive never heard "and a quarter" before. I'm for familiar with the term "quay" :)
Fiiiiiiiiiiiirst yeaaaaaaah !!!
Hire someone to paint the cabinets white.
Laminate cabinets are terrible. Please keep your real wood cabinets!
