Thanks for the summary. They are incorrect in calling the first song as Yaman Kalyan. It is pure Yaman. Yaman has only teevra madhyam while Yaman Kalyan has teevra and shuddha Kalyan.

I was fortunate to meet Shalilji in London nearly 30years ago where he and his wife were performing at a Bengoli gathering and my dance company presented folk dances of GUJRAT
his wife sang few good Latajis songs by Shalilji and she had a superb voice too and also the daughter sang one or two songs all to a pre recorded tracks and it was mind blowing experience and after watching your video this morning on whats apps it brought back one of my most memoriable day when I was blessed to meet Saliji who not was a great Artist but also such a humble low key guy. and so friendly towards others around him. he had a special aura around him and that was a very memoriable Saturday evening in summer in London some 30years ago. Once again your video bought such beautiful memories and you guys are so blessed by maa SARASWATI. .
I would any day prefer to listen to the originally recorded versions. These imitators have ruined his music.

Yes, we heard favourite songs of Malayalam . In Kannada also he has given so many melodious, famous songs. We too Kannadigas are also his big fans. Jo jo laali naa haaduve is one example.

Having been close to Salil Chowdhury and family I have great memories of his varied talents. Music and music instruments of course- - -goes without saying. He had great interest and knowledge of literature, western classical music. In a game of carrom, if he started, we were sure he would clear the board. His car driving skills were astounding. His stories of his 'underground' days we gulped in awe. Above all, his humorous anecdotes had us in splits. A rare mercurial character.
The sheer genius of Salil Da tugs at our heart strings even decades after him. This is indeed timeless music! Thanks to you both for reminding us all of their superb work with your own.

Hardly have any understanding of Ragas, but you both sound so heavenly, one has to have faith in your renditions. You even justified songs that have been sung by lady singers. Marvelous!

Dear sir, Salil Choudhury n family had come to Nashik, Maharashtra, during Durga pujo in 1975.. I was a child of 13 then. He spoke to us. His pianist was Mr Dheeraj. Salil babu had composed theme music for National basketball tournament, 1982.

saathi re sathi re, tujh bin jiya udhas re is one of my favorite songs of salil choudhari ji . the specialty of that song isthat , he induced such precisely his other song ( Bagh Mein Kali khili ) as interlude of this song .

I myself am a composer, mostly composing for marathi ❤I am diehard fan of Sholilda.Fantastic composer of our time. His melodies n orchestrations are beyond our imagination. This space n time hv restrictions to limit my observations. Favorite songs all but NA JIYA LAAGE NA,AISA Q HOTA HAI .
