  • In this video I talk about how I feel after watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie. I talk a little about the state of the movie industry and how the turn and burn through the same movie ideas over and over again and how this movie just falls victims to the classic smash and grab. I had an issue with the first upload of this video and I do apologize but I had to fix a few things and reupload the video. Hope you enjoy.

This film was not more mishandled than the 1993 film and that is a fact. You're free to dislike this film. But the 1993 film failed as an adaptation because it was mishandled. This film adapted the source material incredibly. Plain and simple. This film was not mishandled because it actually adapted the source material.
Didn't think I'd need to edit this comment, but here we are. Mario does not once forget about Luigi in this film. We are CONSTANTLY reminded about his focus on saving Luigi.
"Make fun of me all you want. But you are gonna help me find my brother!"
    Peach: "Thinking about your brother?"
Mario: "We've never been apart this long..."(so yes. clearly)
"Do you have another way to save my brother?"
"At least your brother isn't gonna die because of you."(this line in particular comes in like FIVE minutes before Mario and Luigi reunite.)
Hey lookee here. Editing the comment again. You say the movie doesn't give Mario a reason for doing the obstacle course. It has nothing to give him that will help him save Luigi. But like... it does? Peach openly tells Mario how dangerous it is to be going on this adventure with her to stop Bowser. The obstacle course is literally preparing him for the dangers he'll encounter when he saves Luigi.
"Yeah. That makes sense." Since when has ANYTHING in Mario made sense? Also don't forget Peach was planning on leaving the morning after she met Mario to recruit the Kongs.
Okay. I'm convinced you weren't actually paying attention to the movie because the movie makes it pretty clear Peach and Bowser have a history.

Well you obviously really enjoyed this movie and that’s just fine. I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video and comment. For me the 1993 movie was more fun. More interesting and I even said is was still a disaster and that I wasn’t saying the movie was good or better but that it was more fun. The super Mario bros movie is not good. It’s not bad but it’s not good. It’s like it was written by AI. It’s boring and absolutely nothing happens. The movie did vary well so just because I don’t enjoy doesn’t mean other can’t enjoy it and think it was a really good movie. To be more fair and not compare it to the 1993 movie is it better than despicable me? How does it compare to that film?

OK so I took the time to watch the entire video. While I respect your opinion I don't really know what you expected. It's the first film in what's supposedly going to be a franchise. It's basically an introduction into the Mario universe while cramming in lots of Easter eggs and nostalgia points. Touching on the music, Nintendo has a massive library of music from their Mario games with a fair amount being used. Also lots of different snippets crammed into the film too, sound effects and such. The use of other licensed music imo was to break up just that.
I'm no film reviewer by any means but I can see what they're trying to do here. It was a short introduction film, designed to give you just enough to get you wanting more. Just like the mcu train back in the beginning it certainly has me wanting to ride it.
Luigi was never forgotten as such. I just don't know what you expected Mario to do here? He's been sucked into this crazy fantasy world and has no idea what he's doing or where he's going. Peach was already on her way to Kong island before meeting Mario and she obviously needs all the help she can get considering her army is a bunch of toads, so decides to give him a run out. I agree though spanning the montage over a long as period as they did seemed a bit much. Oh and the mushroom kingdom has always been a kingdom of toads. Mario lore says the goombas were once part of it too but decided to defect and turn bad.
Only seen the film once and due to a rewatch so maybe my opinion will change. I'll have to watch some more of your content as this was the first I've come across and most probably I'll agree with you on other films!
    Edit* loved your humour 👍

Nintendo is not mostly to blame as illumination did alot of the work for the film as the got the same writer that wrote for despicable me and minions the casting director is also to blame for the casting choice and illumination got the creator's of Teen Titans go to direct the film with only Nintendo and miyamoto co producers of the film with chris meledandri being the main producer of the film

It was a love letter to people that love the games! What did you expect no disrespect but I think your wrong it was entertaining and was mainly loved by adults. Did you expect a blockbuster plot? The actual movie years ago wasnt nearly as good but again what did we expect?

    • @angrytelevision823
      @angrytelevision823  Před 11 měsíci

You need to raise your standards. This movie is not good neither is it a love letter. Not by any stretch of the imagination. You don’t have to agree and that is perfectly fine but damn. What did I expect a blockbuster plot in a blockbuster Mario movie? Yes. Yes I expect that from illumination and Nintendo.

@@angrytelevision823 you needed to lower your expectations I mean nothing in Mario makes sense. Not here to argue but it says your angry maybe get some help for that mate. and It's been said by critics that they lost the point because it was more like a love letter than a movie. Sorry to have a different opinion but because I watched it with my son maybe that's why I love it so much. It seems from the comments that more people agree with my side than yours. And if critics hate something that's for fans that's more reason to love it for me!
As I did no offence but your a grown man expecting a "blockbuster plot" about a dragon a plumber that throws fire balls and and tortoises that are called koooa troopers.
What did you exactly think was the point of the movie because I'm lost with your POV
I wish you all the best and no offence
