This is how it was intended to be viewed. Game shows, soap operas and sports were shot on 30fps videotape which gave it a more "live" feel vs a 24fps cinematic look.

So... lets go down the list of firsts..
-- First Pat/Vanna show at Television City. Obviously this set, graphics, and music package had been used for a few months by this point on Bob Goen's Daytime Wheel but Syndicated Wheel was still burning off a backlog of NBC-taped episodes through the summer.
-- First nightime show with a RETURNING CHAMPION. The CBS-era Nighttime Wheel would produce the shows biggest money winners until 1,000,000 was added to the bonus wheel because of this major change.
-- First EVER Wheel to make the bonus prize a blind pick (reportedly because everybody kept choosing the 25k the previous year). Interestingly enough Goen's version kept the old NBC format for that.
-- First Pat and Vanna show in S-T-E-R-E-O!
-- First Wheel since Summer 1983 to NOT start with the logo zooming onto the center of the wheel! (that's something else they kept for Goen's early shows)
-- First Pat and Vanna episode with the trapezoid name tags.
    Whole lotta firsts here.

Also the first to eventually and gradually introduce the new Free Spin token, which was placed on the wheel and in turn also killed the long running Free Spin space, since there were instances in past seasons where some players were known as to rack up a lot of Free Spin tokens.

For the syndicated version. The show itself has been around since January 6, 1975, right after they cancelled the original daytime version of Jeopardy! on January 3 of that year,
but they didn’t have seasons back then. They ran the show year round just like they did with the original version of Jeopardy, which first aired on March 30, 1964 and was cancelled on the day I mentioned above.
The syndicated version of Wheel started in 1982 (aired in tandem with the daytime version until that version was cancelled in 1992), so technically this would be the 40th season since they didn’t have seasons when it first aired,
but Wheel of Fortune is actually turning 47 on January 6th.
