    The Florida State Seminoles beat the Miami Hurricanes on November 11th, 2023, 27-20 at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. This is my POV of the game, from the stands.
    Doak S. Campbell Stadium (in full Bobby Bowden Field at Doak S. Campbell Stadium), popularly known as "Doak", is a football stadium on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. It is the home field of the Florida State Seminoles football team of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
    Opened in 1950, it was originally named Doak Campbell Stadium in honor of Doak S. Campbell, the university's first president. On November 20, 2004, the Florida Legislature added longtime head football coach Bobby Bowden to the stadium name to become Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium. A petition in June 2020 sought to remove Campbell's name, as he resisted racial integration while president of Florida State University. FSU President John E. Thrasher asked Athletics Director David Coburn "to immediately review this issue and make recommendations to me." As of June 2022, no recommendations have been made.
    The stadium is part of the University Center complex, a mixed-use facility encompassing university office space, university classrooms, the university's Visitor's Center, souvenir store, The University Center Club, now known as the Dunlap Champions Club, and skyboxes and press boxes for use during football games.
    With a capacity of 79,560, the 49th-largest stadium in the world, the second-largest stadium in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the 18th largest stadium in the NCAA.
    The Florida State-Miami football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Florida State Seminoles football team of Florida State University and Miami Hurricanes football team of the University of Miami. Since the late 1980s, one or both squads have been highly ranked entering the game, adding national championship implications to an already heated rivalry. Kicks have played an important role in the series with many wide right, wide left, blocks and other mistakes occurring with the game in the balance.
    The series has consistently drawn very high television ratings with the 2006 game being the most-watched college football game-regular-season or postseason-in ESPN history, and the 2009 and 1994 meetings being the second- and fifth-most watched regular season games, respectively.
    Miami lead series 35-33, although FSU now holds a 3 game win streak.

      That’s quite an awesome first game to be at! My first was vs UNC in 2016 when they hit that 52 yard FG against us at the end of the game to win it, a lot less exciting

    There is NO QUESTION that Florida is our primary rival. The earlier your graduation, the more likely that this is true. Class of 1967 here. Proud as hell to be a Nole!

      For sure. If you were a student when Miami was dominant (80s/early 90s, early 2000s), you probably hate Miami more. Otherwise, probably UF. Seems like most of the fan base is pretty split, but that’s alright!

      @jamesb0255 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Ha! I understand your feelings but for me a 40 year fan and booster for 20 years.... Miami is the most hated rival. UF is a very close second, of course.

      I went there starting in 06, so I unfortunately got the Tebow years. FL is our primary rival.. but the Miami rivalry is just so ugly, and the fan bases and players get at it with each other more so. I hate them more. It's FMFFM til I die.

    Great vid. Doak is a great stadium to watch a game. I really do not like that future renovation that they are about to do on the home side of the stadium, though.

    • @FAN_addicts
      @FAN_addicts  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yeah, capacity decreases are never fun. Unfortunately I think the poor attendance during the Taggart years scared the admin to this

    • @jamesb0255
      @jamesb0255 Před 6 měsíci

      40-year fan here and have been to over a hundred games at Doak. I have watched it go from the erector set to the brick palace that it is now.
      The renovation will put Doak into the upper echelon of college stadiums. Better facilities below, better food stands, and better Wi-Fi!!
      We should be proud that we have reached the point where we can build such a facility.
      For me personally it's nice to see the thousands of dollars that I have put into the program actually go to something really nice for the fan experience.
      I know it's a great source of controversy at this time but in the next several years as the fan base flips over due to age, the renovation will be very popular with new and younger season ticket holders and boosters.
      I look forward to it very much.
      Also let's be honest with each other sellouts do not necessarily mean a full stadium. There have been many games throughout the years where the boosters have bought the remaining seats so we can call the game a sell out. The upper corners of the stadium are often not full even in a so-called sellout.
      Plus the seats currently are 12 in wide. I think the majority of the obese asses in this country are now well past 12 in. I know mine is.
      The width of the seats will now be 18 in. Eventually the entire stadium will have seat backs.
      This renovation is great for future games at Doak Campbell Stadium!

    Isn't it sad Florida State is SOOO BAD they almost lost to a freshman qb. Also almost lost to Clemson and Boston College. Florida State is way overrated. Miami could have even won if Emory did not get hurt. Ik no Florida State fan is responding to this bc they r whimpy and know what I said is factual. Refs screwed us as well bc that safety call could have made us win. EVERY PEROSN ON THIS EARTH KNOWS IT WAS A SAFETY WITH UR WEAK ORGANIZATION. Miami looked better on both sides of the ball in this game. Also don't u ever feel it's weird doing Miami traditions they made such as holding up the 4 and coming out with smoke? Can u not make original stuff?

      FSU was also cheated out of plays like the turnover that he clearly had his hand under the ball. The worst one was the targeting that not only hit JT with the crown of his helmet, but also stole his chain. At the very least that player should have gotten unsportsmanlike conduct.

      How old are you man 12? Fans of all fan bases have been holding up four fingers for the fourth quarter for decades. Hell we did it at my high school in the '80s. That is nothing anywhere close to being a hurricane original.
      Ahhh look at the excuses flow! Everything you said in that post has been said to me by a hurricane fan every year for the last 20 years. Why don't you guys freaking win a championship sometime? You need to blow the dust off that National Championship trophy from 2001.
      It never ceases to amaze me how Miami is so good at winning the off-season battle! I see you're getting an early start this year to make sure you keep carrying that banner! Offseason National champions for 2024 for the 20th year in a row! Congratulations!
      The overall series is now down to two games and we will even that up by 2026, mark my words please.
      Miami has been one sorry excuse for a football program for a long time. The citizens of Miami would rather go fishing, clubbing, or snow skiing 😂 then go watch your horrible college football team lose.
      So you just run along little troll back to your home under the MacArthur causeway bridge. I guess we'll hear from you after spring professing yet another imaginary ACC Championship!
      FMFFM! 🖕🏼
