  • We spent over 3 months making our way down the East Coast of Queensland and stayed at almost 40 places along the way. In the outback, along the coast and in the cities, we found some awesome places which are worth checking out.
Today we go through our Top 3 Low Cost Campgrounds and our Top 10 Caravan Parks in Queensland. We'll talk through the pros and cons of each and why we loved them and of course how much they cost.
Keep in mind these are just our opinions and there are so many more places we would have loved to see, these were our favourite we visited.
We are Hannah, Chris and dog Archie, setting off on a 12(ish) month trip around Australia - our BIG Staycation, with the whole of Australia as our backyard! We've quit our jobs, rented the house and gone from never towing a caravan, to touring the country full time with one! We're learning as we go! / staycationoz

Entertaining, informative and well presented. Obviously a huge amount of pre planning and organising goes into your iternary. Your generous sharing of your hard work makes the "pioneering" of working out our iternary just that little bit easier so a huge thanks to you both.

Anytime! Glad that it’s useful! Word of mouth recommendations are the best and it also helps out some of these small local parks! 👍

Great video and very informative. We have bought a large Jayco van 25 foot and are considering buying a Wildtrak as our tow vehicle. What is concerning us is the GCM being only 6000kg. We see you have a large van and have a wildtrak. Is it a challenge to keep under the 6 ton GCM? If you had your time over again would you still get the wildtrak as your tow vehicle? Thanks in advance

Yea the GCM of 6000Kg does mean we are close to our weight limit, we had it weighted before we left and had about 100Kg or so spare. But the Wildtrak has been a great tow vehicle, we’ve loved it! But with a 25ft van I’d probably be looking for a higher GCM.
I’d still have got the Ranger if we did it again! But probably wouldn’t tow anything larger than what we’ve got!

@@StaycationOz thank you, we can get a GCM upgrade on a new Ranger it takes the GCM to 7100kg but it has to be done before it’s registered. Love the Ranger but worried if it’s the right choice for the size of van. Thanks so much for your reply

No worries, yea a GCM update to 7100KG would be amazing! Definately something that we would consider next time we bought a new tow vehicle! 6000Kg is managable, but 7100Kg would be totally worry free!
