There are definitely a lot of pros to black & white. It's faster. It's cheaper. No risk of the colourist simplifying your line work. It's easier for people to ignore any kinds of imperfections. Contrast between black & white can be an excellent storytelling tool. Some art styles just don't work all that well in colour. The entire manga industry was built on black & white.
I love love love the black and white. I enjoy the contrast in shading, in my opinion makes the art more elegant than it otherwise would be in color.
