    You can use Google home to run automation. Say turn off bottom drain, then add another and say talk to Mister Home for 5 mins, then add another and say turn on bottom drain. I use for my marine tank when feeding or cleaning.

    That's exactly what i need / want Craig, i use Drayton Smart Wiser heating controls at work so you got me thinking how i can incorporate these in my pond. Great vid 👍

    Hi
    I am glad someone else is started to do a smart pond , I have been using a open source software call home assistant running on a raspberry pi that monitor my water level and will turn off my blade if the water drops and send me a message on my phone using pushover apps if anything go wrong ,if you would like more information please get in touch

    I’ve just got the same plugs Need to set up like yours brilliant video and love the idea of skimmer air as I seem to loose a lot of food must be using to separate pumps to switch over love it I’m using Alexa to control it is google better

      hi matey, i would imagine alexa is the same. to be honest this is the first time ive used google home to automate something at home. clever tech!

      MAD ABOUT KOI! Yep Alexa works fine with them I’ve copied your system to be fair like the idea of turning bottom drain pump of etc and air stone next to skimmer great keep them coming

    I enjoyed this video and it has made me think about including some app based tech. I will need to watch your video again to work out the difference between google home and kasa.

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi  Před 4 lety +1

      You just need the kasa app really mate. Google home just gives you voice control

    • @countrykoipond
      @countrykoipond Před 4 lety

      Thanks. I watched the video again and it all made sense. One other question though please. Is your feeder timed and controlled by an app?

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi  Před 4 lety

      The feeder is pre programmed using the feeder controller mate

    My Google homedoesn't recognise that device 🤣🤣 we have the Google mesh network here and they have given us WiFi around our half acre home/garden also we use lifx lighting which works very well with the Google home system. Thanks for sharing craig 👍🏻

    @stevetrute2535 Před 4 lety +1

    Great video, this is the exact problem I'm facing at the moment, food being forced into the skimmer from bottom drain air., so will be looking at trying something similar. If you're feeding every 2 hours, how long is your feeder set to come on for each time?
    Again very informative video mate, thank you.

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi  Před 4 lety

      Great, glad you got something from it mate. Currently the feeder dispenses for 20 seconds at a time matey
      Also
      someone raised a valid point in the event of a power cut the unit wont come back on till the next scheduled activation. To get round this ive put some off/on schedules every few hours within a minute of each other. That way if the power was to go off these schedules would start it back up again
      Hope that makes sense!

    Thanks for that I had the older type with remote and when the power went off and came back on the pumps etc did not so went into the Bin 👍

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi  Před 4 lety

      Ahh i see what you mean now. Done a test and no it doesnt activate the plug back on if it was in cycle, it needs to cross that exact trigger point time wise before activating again.
      I suppose the fix for this is quite easy really. A couple of on/off schedules programmed every couple of hours would ensure the pump would only be off for a minimum amount of time if the power failed then come back on in the middle of a cycle

    Nice system 😜 Look into IFTTT (IF That Then This) for the automation technology you have. Things may start to get a little bit more freakier. Surely it won't belong until we get some consumer based smart connected pond equipment on the shelves??? e.g pumps,filters,feeders, Could be awaiting awhile #oldskool 😂🤣 🙏⛩️🈂️ KC

    I've got mine set up very similar but with alexa and tapo app. At the moment I'm just using extensions and the plugs. Not got electrician in as of yet to wire everything in. I thought things like the pump and filter etc had to be directly wired In to a switch. I may just get a few sockets installed instead. Do you have a picture of the plugs plugged in and where your electrics are? Thanks
