This is a great video Sean ... I got quite a lot out of it with the drop D tuning and why it's useful for different chord shape fingering positions ... more close ups on the fretboard would have been useful, as it was hard to see from the camera angles ... that said, love the passion and your teaching style, it's a real gift that you are passing onto the guitar community

My 12 string stays in d standard. I know thats not "dropped d" but it just sounds better than e standard to me. And its easier on the bridge.
Some guitars are that way. I have an Alvarez that is 45 years old. Sounds fine in standard, but drop it down a step and it roars. One of my Martins happens to be the same way.

Sorry - the most basic question, how do you get to drop D as used in this video?
Lower the pitch of your low E string to D
Lower your low E string down a step have it match your 4th string or D string

Another way is to tune the 7th fret of the E string to the A instead of the 5th fret .
