    It's refreshing to watch a diy so down to earth and funny. I especially enjoyed the end with: if you have any comments on how things could have been done better, be sure to keep them to yourself. So great!

    Great stuff! Had a buddy in the service using tossed ammo can's for year's, up until he ran out and we had to improvise.
    he wanted something that opened outwards and could hold itself like a fold-out shelf so he google'd lockboxes and such, found the very same cases you showed!
    He opted for the ones with those side hinges that can lock at a right angle and now hes got a semi-complete tool rack fit for any kind of catastrophic engine meltdown/flat tire.
    Cheer's from Portugal!

    Almost bought one of those. Went with the Rebel 1100. I feel like they fit the same criteria. Both are awesome. I'm in the same boat as you. I don't want to turn the rebel into a Harley with a sissy bar, giant seat with passenger seat or bagger but I need some good storage.

      How are you liking the Rebel 1100? I was looking at those as well but ended up on the KVS because it was more in my price range.

    Great video. The PBR case was a nice touch.

    You could add bellows to the side to hold stuff in, with 2 dollars worth of fabric or vinyl and some e6000 glue.

    I used small ammo cans on my bike. They're pretty low profile, weather resistant, and they open on top.

    • @SpinningWrenches
      @SpinningWrenches  Před 2 lety +1

      That's definitely what I would do on a more choppery or offroad looking bike, but on this bike I didn't think it would work well with the style.

    Should’ve went with like a plastic ammo box. That way when you opened it, you didn’t have to pick all the things up after the sidewalk.

    • @SpinningWrenches
      @SpinningWrenches  Před 5 měsíci

      I did an ammo can build as well! It does load and unload easier/more securely, but doesn't look quite as good on this bike.

      @@SpinningWrenches actually commented before the video was done the final bracket made did look good and fit well but I think I would rather have something that open from the top instead of like the suitcase

    at last, someone using their head, why spend $200 on materials and need $200 worth of tools and spend all weekend in the shed making them, amazon has some cheap cases, $40 for two, they also sell plastic ones that are 100% waterproof, they have rubber seals in the lids, and they are even cheaper, IMO they look better than motorcycle panniers bought in bike shops and there are more choices in sizes and materials, some of the aluminium ones are anodized R.O.Y.G.B.I.V. etc, and many finishes, matt, gloss, satin, polished aluminium and buffed too,
    PS these ones look great and suit the bike, the KTM & BMW ones in particular that I've seen look to big and are cumbersome looking,
