Hey yall! Thanks for being here! I absolutely love how this table turned out. Be sure to share any questions or comments you have! I'd love to hear!
The method you used to stain is AMAZING!
Thanks so much!! Super beginner friendly!!
That looks amazing. I’ve never seen this method actually used on a piece before but you definitely made it look amazing. Reason I watched this was because I’m building a piece with mahogany, oak and western red cedar so needed some ideas on how to blend the wood shades. Thanks, keep them coming.
Thanks so much 😊
The end result looks great!
thanks so much!! I appreciate it💕
I don’t have a table to refinish (well, that’s a lie because I do- that’s just a future project) but right now I am refinishing a wardrobe for my wife… run into the multiple wood species on the mirror frame and I’m trying to overcome this hurdle! This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I’ve watched your video (found it weeks ago when I first tried tackling this project) but it’s very helpful and the table looks great!
Those multi wood pieces can be so hard to deal with! Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions:)
Love the advice! ❤
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Love it!!
thanks so much!! Hope it was helpful!
I have a antique chair with alot of carvings etc....when we began to stain as its never been done , it has several types of wood. Cherry and pine i believe. What would you reccomend for this chair ? Its a family heirloom and Im devestated its multiple woods when we started to stain. Please any help! Your table is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!! Yes definitely look into the stains I used or a gel stain. That will help even out the differing tones ☺️
I'm refinishing my grandmother's hope chest. The body is cedar, but the trim seems to be pine. I'd like to stain the entire piece in an aged walnut stain, but I'm concerned the reddish color of the cedar will make it appear purple, while the pine may not absorb the stain very well. How can I at least make the whole piece one uniform stain color?
The best way I have found to help with making it more uniform is
to do a paint wash and then use a stain and finishing oil or gel stain over that. Those reddish pieces are so difficult sometimes, so I use a light green added to the paint wash to help decrease the red and that can help. 🤞🏻💕
The stain you’re “stripping “ with, is that gel stain also? 7:58
yes it is ☺️
In my view, you effectively painted the top, rather than staining it. When looking at the top, one sees the layers of colored stain sitting ON TOP of the wood, as paint does.
Yes it is like painting with the stain, it works the same as a gel stain. The thickness and makeup of the stain is made to have high coverage. Thats why it is perfect for blending different woods. It also is more durable than most paints so you can use on table tops and not worry as much about chipping or peeling paint. ☺️💕
I would stain it
