I also thought it was so easy to defeat the villain and it ended very abruptly! It was still really nice and I enjoyed Olivia's character a lot.
I read Gallant a couple of days ago and loved it, and while I still enjoyed and cared about the things you didn’t (like the characters), the atmosphere was definitely the best part of this book for me. I agree that the main pull of the book is just the way it feels to read. It’s actually the same thing that I loved about reading Addie LaRue, though their vibes are very different. Maybe that means I should try The Night Circus 😂
Yess, you really should! That's the main thing about The Night Circus and, while it's not for me, I think you could really enjoy it if you liked Gallant 😊
I have never seen a video of yours before and was surprised that you didn’t like the book. But when you mentioned you didn’t like The Night Circus, it made sense. I personally loved both books. Crazy how subjective reading is! X
Now I'm a bit worried since I Dnf the night circus, because I didn't get the plot, and felt like nothing was going on. But I pre ordered the waterstones' signed edition, so I'm going to give it a shot and hope for the best.
I hope you like it! It definitely has more plot than the Night Circus though!
I loved this book.
I loved Addie LaRue and The Night Circus but for some reason Gallant didn’t work for me. I gave it 3 stars mainly because of the writing but it could’ve easily be a 2 stars book for me
This doesn't sound for me. I haven't had much luck with her books. The premise of her works are always intriguing but she has such a unique approach it's never what I expect 😅

Didn't know Gallant was horrible when I bought it, I am not pleased. I need to be way more careful when purchasing books. I heard the fantasy part when people talked about it as one of their most anticipated, but I must've missed them mentioning horror.
I think this is a hard book to describe, and it definitely won't work for everyone like it didn't for me as well 😕
Really what part of ghoulish child that handles the dead was not discribed😂 but yea that’s fair I enjoyed it Because of the horror aspects
I just finished Gallant and I enjoyed reading it. It's a lot about the vibes which I didnt mind. It reminded me more of her City of Ghosts books which i liked but didnt blow me away like her Vicious and Monsters of Verity series. I really loved the concept of Gallant and the imagery throughout the book but the resolution was rushed and simplistic in my opinion. I will read anything Schwab writes because I love her writing style but I was left wanting a bit more out of this one.
I was unsure if I would pick this up and I think it will not really be for me. I liked the Nightcircus ok (surprisingly more on reread) and I also haven't given a single Schwab book 5 stars though I really wanted to and they always sounded so interesting to me. I still have to try Vicious about which I'm still really hopeful but other than that...
