- Slovakia’s prime minister Robert Fico was fighting for his life on Wednesday night after being shot several times in an assassination attempt.
He is believed to have been hit by at least three bullets, one in the abdomen, as he spoke to voters in Handlova, a town 80 miles northeast of the capital Bratislava. He was bundled into a car by his security team and taken to hospital.

Shouldn't paramedics be rushing the patient towards the emergency room?

perhaps they didnt want to panic citizens, but it would be anyway weird, rather perhaps the shooting bleeding might have been slowed, stopped at emergency vehicle, and now was important not to make rush movements being afraid of additional hurt injury. But its also possible that they for some reason didnt care enough which could be odd.
That is more the pace of medical professionals after they have confirmed someone is deceased, but they have to keep it under wraps so that dissenters and usurper won't usurp his vacant position without going through the normal political path.
