VERY nice, currently building a rack board with a QC so thanks for the inspiration!
You really should sell that Plini Mod and this whole pedalboard assembly was sick.
Let's go my favourite guitarists 🥺 Jake and plini are the goats
😜👍
Man y'all should start selling that Plinimod
You wish!
Just kidding. If there’s enough demand then we’re totally down!
I'd buy one
I’d buy one
I’d buy one
I'd buy one
Love these kind of vids. More please
That's the dream! Awesome video bro! Loved it!
Been using these boards for a couple of months now and i have to say its now the only way to fly, thank you Temple Audio, you guys are amazing 🤘🧟🤘
I just finished my own QC build w an XLR mod,IEC mod and a 4X Mod on a solo as well. Really dig the temple platform
Cool to see, I built the same board a few months ago
Suggestion for the end caps: Do a little cutout in the plate where the screws go so no one has to wrestle with the awkward angle to remove and reattach the handles, especially when you're saying that's a better method to do it.
I was going to stay exactly the same thing, then read your comment.
Perfect work ! !
I’m using the Solo18, 4x mod, and Hi5 mod with my QC and DVP5. The Limited Black and Gold with the gunmetal Solo18 is 🤙. Such a powerful rig in a small light format.
Cool vid , pedalboard for the pedalboard:)
Very nice, very nice indeed!!
You could screw the plates in, before removing the wax, before you put the pedal on top. Way more secure to attach them to the pedal 🙂
Love it!
That’s awesome!
Rip N Dip, Dip N Doo is the only way bro. 🤘🏼
😜
I recommend using a variable torque screw driver in the same format as that small drill for the over tighten problem. Great video, Saludos!
Yes. That’s a wise idea to ensure you don’t strip things. 👍
I love the EBS flat patch cables. Their, the only patch cable that I use for my temple boards. Still trying to figure a way raise my boards up about 1.5 inches at the front of the board, 2x4 dosent quite cut it.
wow very cool👌
Thanks 😀
I love temple boards! I don’t actually use the mounting plates because they infuriated me when I tried. I just use dual lock but I always buy temple boards.
Glad you love the boards! Totally fine to use Dual Lock if you prefer, but - once installed properly - I still think Pedal Plates have a lot of advantages.
@@templeboards they are very solid when installed, and a great design. My irritation came with adding or taking off pedals to swap out. Was a bit more time consuming than the dual lock setup.
That's a wonderful tutorial. I'm not too happy in placing CD7 right below the qc air flow holes.
Beside that I'll surely follow this useful tutorial for my temple audio pedalboard :D
As far as I know the QC is passively cooled (heat sink) and it shouldn’t cause any issues. Plini hasn’t had any troubles using it on the road but - all that aside - it’d be really easy to place the DC7 elsewhere!
Really fun video! Curious about the placement of the power supply, doesn’t that block the vents of the QC?
As far as I know, there’s no forced air cooling in the QC so it wouldn’t be blocking air flow. If it were problematic then it’d be easy enough to move the DC7 over. There is a bit of space for ventilation between the QC and the perforated top sheet of the board. The same amount of space as if you used the included rubber bumpers with the QC on a solid floor.
Nice board build! I will look to be doing one very similar. Can the crux be run off the hi5 mod?
Yes, you can link the Crux from the 24V out of the Hi5 MOD.
I need that Plini mod, PLS make one. I'll buy 3 straight away haha
I’ve heard the 1/4 outputs have around 6db more gain, how does everyone feel about the XLR outs vs the 1/4 outs into DI?
Looking to build my own quad cortex Solo 18 rig and want to see what everyone thinks works best or just pros and cons of each.
I just got me the same Board. only issue: the LED Mod is out of stock in Germany basically everywhere 😅 i am also not gonna use the patchbay mods (yet), just using power mod.
Sorry to hear that! There should be more stock in Europe soon.
cool 🙂
@templeboards I really want the PLINI MOD module for my setup, since I'm running a backstage wireless in combination with a temple board at the front stage. Is this available for not-PLINI customers please?
We’re definitely open to making them more widely available if there’s enough demand!
@@templeboards Greatly appreciated. I‘d sign up for two. 🙋🏻♂️
Hey are your boards in stock in Australia? Cant find any in stock anywhere
NICE,
Cool, thanks! Perhaps you could sell the same/similar packaged set to QC owners.. I’d buy one (Europe) 😅🎉
I’m not an expert but mounting the power supply directly under the Quad Cortex doesn’t sound like good heat management. Especially when you’re covering the vents on the bottom of the Quad Cortex. I used the mission engineering 529M power supply. Very compact (just larger than a 9 volt battery) and it runs the Quad very nicely.
Fair point! Easy to move over if need be.
It runs the QC? Is there a massive adaptor. Touring Europe this year and trying to find a solid power.
You need a usb power supply like the ones that charges your phone. That’s it. The power supply runs off of that. It is fantastic solution. Then you can keep your factory power supply for backup. I can send you pictures if you want to drop me your email.
What kind of background study do you need to get into this type of job? Is it sound engineer ?
How do you keep the LED light strip from adding a bunch of noise? I have the Hi5 power module FYI. I can turn on the light when the QC is bypassed-when I am on a break-but when playing, it is too noisy.
Do you have it on its own isolated output? That’s definitely step one. Any noise beyond that may take a bit of troubleshooting. Maybe email us a video?: sales@templeaudio.com
@@templeboards Yes, it’s on its own output. Will do, thanks!
Question, with the cortex mounted above the power supply, is there any issues with overheating?
Plini hasn’t had any issues, but it’d be straightforward to move it if need be.
very nice build but somehow I felt sorry for the QC being tumbled up and down like that hahahaha
I think it can handle doing a few flips, haha. The enclosure is SOLID. No disrespect intended to the QC. ;P
@@templeboards as always.. templeboards are awesome.. that board looks so light.. cheers!
I tried the mounting plates once. Never again, they were a nightmare to remove when I sold the pedals.
Sorry you had a negative experience. When installed correctly, they work great and are relatively straightforward to remove without damaging the pedal whatsoever (see older removal videos).
@@templeboards I will, thanks. Just getting another Temple board tomorrow so maybe I’ll give them another shot.
would have slide the QC up against the side so that the expression pedal is further from the handle because it looks like the handle might interfere with it.. in my experience people's foot placement on expression pedals isn't fully lined up on the top of it so their foot would hang off the side which in the case would mean their foot is hitting the handle
Couldn’t move the QC over any more because I needed access to the cable management hole on the left side. On a larger board (eg. DUO 17 or DUO 24) you could go all the way to the left and give yourself more space on the right. The handle doesn’t conflict with proper use of the expression pedal.
Wasn’t an issue for the boys at all. Temple did an amazing job crafting these and properly spacing out everything. Amazing job!
That’s a lot of expensive CIOKS power modules when you could have just mounted the QC’s power brick under the board.
how long was the TRS Cable?
I believe it's 58cm (~22"). EBS makes their flat TRS in 28cm and 58cm.
ebssweden.com/content2/accessories/ebs-dls-stereo-trs-flat-patch-cables/
pedal board build with something that doesn't need a pedal board
you'd get every quad cortex user on a templeboard if you made an IEC adapter mod to power it directly
What is the size of this Pedalboard?
SOLO 18 (18” x 8.5)
hmmm you blocked the air inlet at the bottom of the QC.... even worse, you put a hot PSU against it... It is passive cooling in the QC, so it needs natural air flow to be optimal...
Hasn’t been a problem for Plini. Easy enough to move if need be.
Any good way to mount an fm9. Those raised feet. Uugghhh
I haven't personally mounted an FM9, but I assume that - once all feet/screws/etc are removed - you can use four Medium Pedal Plates (one per corner) to mount it. You may be able to bypass using pedal plates and remove the screws and refasten them through perf and back into the pedal.
@@templeboards thanks bunch. I appreciate it.
I have a FM3 which has the same feet/end caps as the FM9. The trick I did was add some dual lock to the plate and to the bottom of the FM3 and then made an in between dual lock piece by putting them back to back to just give it a bit more height. I find using the dual lock with the plates gives me maximum flexibility since I am changing my boards wayyyy too much.
A ton of people over on the Fractal forums have mounted FM9s on Temple pedalboards. I don’t remember the details, but IIRC it was described as a fairly straightforward process.
@@OtherTheDave thank you so much. I’ll check it out. My temple board is decked out with mods I don’t want to lose.
For Fractal FM9 with one expression? 😭
Sell us the Plini mod!!!!
So many bells and whistles, but the real problem is not addressed properly : having a 230v cable so close to audio cables. EMI/RFI interferences could be more "controlled' by placing differently DC7 and its power cable. Additionnally, mounting pedals on a metal plate is not a bad idea, but not any word about ground and ground loops... Mounting a pedal board is not only for solving mechanical problem, but could be a solution for avoiding electrical problems...
We didn’t have any noise issues with this setup. It would be easy enough to move around the power supply and/or cables if need be.
Locates Crux so power cables are away from audio cables, proceeds to stuff ALL cables including power throough one hole 😁
Haha. Fair enough. Didn't cause any perceivable issues, though. Easy enough to change if need be.
@@templeboards yeah, just made me chuckle, nice build, wish i could afford a QC (more like justify) for my dodgy playing
Watched at least 6 ads before one end cap got put back on. It’s so irritating I don’t even care about the content anymore
Haven’t seen an ad in years. CZcams premium is so worth it.
I don’t like the idea of permanently sticking it to the board……just my thoughts
Nothing’s permanently stuck to the board. If you’re referring to the pedal plates stuck to the pedals, they’re still removable without damaging the pedal’s finish whatsoever.
@@templeboards that's good.
Templeboards are way too over complicated. Not worth. Unless you’re constantly in a controlled temperature environment, those quick release adhesives slide around and make your pedals look crooked eventually.
The adhesive is rated to withstand around 270°F. If your pedals are getting that hot then you’d have other issues on your hands. 😜
Proper prep-work is key. If done correctly, there’s very little reason for the pedal plates to fall off or go crooked. If - for whatever reason - you are having issues, reach out to us and we’ll help sort things out!: sales@templeaudio.com
im triggered by how many times you had to say mod in the first few minutes
1 hour video for pedalboard with 2 pedals on it? What a waste of time...
Oh we’ll definitely do other vids with more pedals. 😜👍
This setup simplifies certain aspects and solves issues for the artist. If you find it unnecessary, that’s totally cool.
