This is the most effective single leg takedown hands down. The pressure in the hips is just beautiful, I took everyone down at my gym with this and yes, they teach that same lame ass single with the legs between your legs, that won't do anything. I put some resistance and my training partners couldn't finish the takedown, as soon as it was my turn I put my shoulder into their hips and I didn't even had to turn, they wanted to go down after that pressure. Thank you Sir for this amazing technique.

Alot of BJJ guys squeeze their legs. I think it is because they didn't initially have the penetration necessary to get the right grip.

From my experience in judo and wrestling, singles against a larger opponent (also practising some grappling), they would just oblige their weight down. My successful counters for this always have been Fireman carry. If I want to bring them, usually faking into lateral drops are most of the time successful.
EDIT: Also most belly to back throws really work like a charm. Better positioning is always the key I guess

That's a nice knee pick, if I cant get that knee pick, I turn it into a sort of double where you capture the hips and blast through laterally. I love it!
You can totally hit that from the same leg forward, I do it all the time just pick the knee into a ride the pipe single and bow from the inside position out.
Ya can't hesitate in an MMA scenario or on the street though, you've got to go get it, straight away.
How should you approach this move when stuck in a grip hold from the other opponent? I'm new to wrestling so I don't understand everything yet.
1) Clear the grip tie (by grabbing the very end of their sleeve with either hand - one at top and the other on the bottom - and with one hard singular jolt push their grip down and away from your body), 2) circle away to create space, and 3) re-enter from space utilizing the reach set up.
Best to circle away from the onset to avoid them getting the grip in the first place, but if your opponent closes distance keeping them out of range by circling away. This has the added benefit of drawing them in. As they begin chasing you, you then close the distance and lunge towards them (now the two of you are moving towards each other creating the illusion of speed whereas if you had just simply attacked him while he was stationary ie standing there in front of you there would have only been one person in motion).

this is my first year in wrestling and im wondering if its normal to be passive at first. Id like to know what i can do to be less passive and more aggressive. Thanks.
Great question, this is an important topic so Iâm going to spend some time on this one and just know feeling passive is very normal. When youâre new at anything and havenât developed proficiency in that skill to a certain level of confidence you wonât trust yourself so you will be hesitant. You canât trust your skill set to be effective yet and thatâs why youâre passive. If you knew you were going to take them down every time you attacked, youâd be attacking all the time. How do you overcome this? Drilling. Repetition. Not just for sheer repetitions, but deliberate, thoughtful drilling. Be incredibly detail oriented when you drill. Try your best to get everything perfect. As you become more comfortable with a technique have your partner increase resistance slowly until you feel you can hit it live. Thatâs another factor, seek out a partner whoâs serious about getting better like you. One last thing, and this is incredibly important, when it comes time to spar you need to be ok with failing. You need to simply pull the trigger when you think youâve got an opening. You are going to fail the majority of the time at first. Itâs apart of the process and it doesnât mean you suck. It means youâre serious about getting better. Winners have failed the most. Very good question.

I like keeping the head up higher and making contact with my forehead. Pinching the knees is what we teach in wrestling if you are going to reach back for the heal. It's excellent technique for wrestling.

This one is better unless cause thereâs ways to prevent a single leg or defend it. This one is good cause itâs fast and not easy to defend

When you learn a few different finishes youâll become better overall; certain finishes work better for certain reactions/body types. This is generally the best overall finish for new grapplers facing larger opponents, but there are others that will really serve you well so donât limit yourself, learn them all đđ» great question

Exactly. The guillotine threat isn't nearly as big as people generally think from this position IF the structure of your shot is correct; head up in the ribs and shoulders tilted with pressure on the leg.
So I have a question when you're a bigge guy what's a good way to chain wrestle or best take down to have I'm 6.3 I'm 250 lb..I'm also 50 Year old with bad knees from playing football but. Im really falling in love with jiu-jitsu but I don't really have great takedowns anymore other than a basic double is there any other good take down for big men.. I I was always a strong tackler playing football so I have a good double leg but I want to know if there's something more effective than blast double somebody

Played dropsys with friends, 1 guy is the heaviest and strongest and he floored me everytime but took a while before he could. I looked up videos and this is brilliant đ next day we played again. I used this against him and I won! But u have to run at them then bluff them bit before otherwise they will know your strategy đ
Good move. You could also step inside put your other arm around his back and take him down the same way more or less Rickson Gracie style

Is there an outside single version of this to avoid rear knees and rear uppercuts when shooting in?
Yes. The head outside Single / High Crotch. I will actually be posting that in a few weeks. The trade off of the head outside single leg is your neck is now perfectly positioned to be guillotined. Similar to the head outside double, but even more vulnerable as you only have one leg secured on the entry. Done correctly, these vulnerabilities are minimized, but as with all offense there's always counter offense.

hey i heard from ur finding ur stance video that 90% of people are right leg leads but in this video you say that in western countries most will lead with their left leg? which leg do they generally lead with?
In the pure sport of wrestling (for which the stance video was made) the vast majority are right leg lead. In âstrikingâ or âstand upâ (which was taken into consideration for the snatch single video) the vast majority are left leg lead. We can go into reasons why-most westerners are right hand dominant meaning their power hand is their back hand which would require their left leg to be the lead leg, etc. But regardless of the reasons that is how it pans out and itâs important to train accordingly. Good question.

If an experienced opponent moves quickly, he will parry back into a stance grabbing your collar or shirt
Therein lies the paradox of the move: is this guy a trained fighter? Being a tall guy against a shorter opponent, I always know its coming. Simply because there's no way a shorter, smaller guy can win without that move.
I'm only 5 ft and lean with moderate muscle (not bulky but also not dead skinny), but still very light (around 52 kg, whatever that is in lbs) - would this work if I would try it on someone who is literally almost twice my size and weight? Most of such things that claim to "help take down larger opponents" seem to be made for taking down someone half a head taller, not like 4 heads and twice as broad...
I don't want my only option to be kicking them balls in a fight man...
Its all theoretical. There is never any guaranteed moves or holds that will work on every opponent, every time. You best strategy is to have a Plan B. That includes running away if necessary.

The off balancing effect during the entry and then immediately sitting him to his butt. You should be knocking him backwards with your shoulder on the entry therefore off balancing him so he has to use his far arm to keep balance đđ»

At that weight giving up 10lbs is equal to giving up 10% of your body weight. Technique is going to be ultra important for you to be successful, but do not ignore the strength and weight factors. Eat brother, youâve got the opposite problem most weight cutting wrestlers face (not a bad problem to have). I was regularly undersized for my weight class and would often bump up for my team during competition. Focus on the technical details and keep the calories coming. Keep us posted on your journey.

What's to stop him from putting you in a headlock, the problem with takedowns like this is, most fighters are trained to grab hold of the opponent for support, in this case you head is right there, so while you're throwing him down, he's grabbing onto your head to hold on for support, as you throw him down he's making you go down with him, (while in a headlock).

What I do if their is 3 people against me I dodge first find their weakness for the first kick their leg grab their arm and put them to the floor making them go over ur body second guy if heâs coming from the back elbow him to the face and then grab his arm and flip over the body the third he tries to hit you dodge go down and kick their foot put them to the floor but make sure to get their stomach on the floor and grab his arm and put it upwards then if he moves his arm breaks in that position he canât try anything
