I think it's cos Black people equate dirty shoes to being "broke or poor" White middle class people equate dirty shoes to being "chic and trendy" which is why you have balenciaga designing sneakers to look dirty and selling them for £850. We will never understand it because a lot of us experienced having dirty shoes growing up because we had no other options and know the experience that come with that whereas white middle class people get to dabble in the "aesthetic" without having to actually live it.
