  • We bring you along to actual customers homes for actual jobs in Eastern and Central Pennsylvania as well as Central and South Jersey.
    Bob's CZcams channel typically premiers movies of both his daughter Kitana and himself working at various jobs as part of his home improvement company.
    We have been working on building a studio for several months and while the progress hasn't been consistent, we are now very close to our goal.
    This video is still substandard in our quest to produce high quality videos, but with new equipment being installed in the upcoming months, the quality should increase quite a bit.
    This video is Bob's first attempt at providing tool reviews and he chose the Siligun because of its uniqueness.
    We hope you enjoy the video and we ask that you please comment below on what you thought of it as well as the quality of the video, backgrounds, animations, etc.
    As of the publication of this video the Siligun went from $29.00 to almost $39.00, but if you want one, you can order from our Amazon Affiliate link by clicking here: amzn.to/3pMblWz
    If you have a Siligun please comment down below on how well you like it, how it's helped or hindered you and share your experiences with everyone else.
    Enjoy the show and your week/weekend.
    Cheers,
    Bob

    I'll buy one as soon as I can! The negatives, as you call them, are nothing. The worst thing is the limit of how thick the materials being pushed can be.

    They should add another blade on the inside that cuts when you rotate it. Can trim it completely by rotating it 360 and also allow you to rotate it too.

    I install architectural sheet metal, so I caulk daily. This seemed nice for tight scupper drains and hard to reach places, but I’m glad I watched your review. I won’t be buying one mostly based on how poorly it fed the tube through. Just for a quarter of the tube you had to re-set it multiple times. The only part I cringed on was your explanation of the already cut tube in the old gun. The pressure is all between the push plate/rod and the end of the gun. No pressure is on the back side where it is cut. Many times I will cut a tube in half once I’ve used half of it to cut my spreading tool out of the excess plastic, then put the tube back in at half length, and it still applies just fine. I think you just had that part of how it functions backwards in your head. Anyways, great review, and thanks for saving me the cash!

    I've owned a few homes, done a lot of caulking. You just gave me even MORE reason to want a siligun. You have heard of a handy tool called scissors? Now those are perfect for cutting away the used slit tube. You've shown me nothing but that you're hidebound, and perhaps a bit of an accident looking for a place to happen. >> Tom's wife Pam

    I can think of a thousand times where this would have made my life easier installing hardie products for the last 15 years! But, it’s gotta be easier than that to use! Gotta have those nice smooth beads or it’s useless. Can’t even count how many times I’ve had to come back to a certain spot after doing all the other caulking just so my piston length was smaller and I could get into a tight spot. Let’s hope they come out with a v2.0. Thanks for the review from B.C!

    A little epoxy syringe is very handy for applying caulk. You can get into small spaces and you use much less caulk because you put the caulk only where it is needed.

      That’s true Paul, if you have a few things to do around the house but if you working on a large construction job where you have a lot of caulkin to do behind the column in the corners of building where you need to get behind columns, you will need a pro tools Because if you go to job site with a hobby tools site super may tell you to leave and come back when you have professional tools to do job.

  • @jonathanbetenbender307

    Is the issue with the adhesive that it doesn't push hard enough to squeeze out thicker material, or is it just an issue with it gumming up the blade (I've got no issue cleaning it off).

    i have been reading soon reviews and there is a about a 25% failure rate in the first 2-3 tubes if it was made of metal it may be worth it but I can buy a a good quailty standard gun for less

    I've honestly never had that much difficulty getting into a tight space. It's all about the angle that you cut your tip and your ability to maneuver your wrist

  • @williamherd7251
    @williamherd7251 Před 2 lety +1

    The best caulkers (like me) learn to cut and use a flat tip, so it doesn’t matter if the tube spins, because it’s always at the same angle

    • @williamherd7251
      @williamherd7251 Před 2 lety

      He doesn’t like the gun because he uses an extreme angle on his tube. Siligun would work better if he personally was a more versatile caulker.

    For the record, the pressure on the tube when being used in an old style plunger gun is at the tip end of the tube .... not the back. Seems like you approached this video / review with an opinion and spent a lot of your energy supporting that view. Not a great way to do a review.

    So it doesn't buckle when switching a cut tube to a traditional gun. That's why you didn't demonstrate. You can use it with adhesive. Why wouldn't you be able to.? I rarely to never need to turn my tube because of the slant cut to open tube. I love mine and it's great. 26 years installing hard surface floors and buying caulking by the case. For me this is a great tool. Also to long of a video complaining about it

    At minute 12+ it pushes against the front part of the tube,not its back, you got it all wrong, and if u have to cut the tube 10 times and cut yourself one time out of ten, then u better do something else like playing with your dolls or something, I dont even need a caulkgun, I'm using a hammer against my 6pack...
