The perfect compliment to this video for your knee pain!
    ==========================
Do you have flat feet? If so - not to worry! You’re absolutely not alone!
Flat feet in and of themselves are not necessarily a bad thing. Many people who have flat feet live out their whole lives completely normal with no problems or complications.
But there certainly are those who have flat feet who experience a lot of problems because of them. These problems can include (but certainly aren’t limited to) plantar fasciitis, knee pain (patellar tracking), hip pain, and lower back pain.
If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms and you have flat feet, oftentimes addressing this issue can help you to feel better in a hurry.
CAN EXERCISE FIX MY FLAT FEET?
The bottom line is most flat feet are caused by bone and ligament structure in your foot. Unfortunately no amount of exercise will ever change the anatomical structure of your foot.
However what you CAN do is improve the STRENGTH and STABILITY of the muscles that act on the bones of your foot to add support and improve movement mechanics!
And those are exactly the exercises you’re going to get in this video!
BEST HOME EXERCISES FOR FLAT FEET
(Video time stamps included below for your convenience)
    (0:00) INTRODUCTION
    (1:45) ORTHOTICS
    (2:53) FOOT FLEXION
    (4:03) TOWEL SCRUNCHES
    (4:49) PERONEAL STRETCH
    (5:54) RESISTANCE BAND INVERSION
    (7:23) STANDING INVERSION
    (8:23) STANDING SUPINATION
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO THESE EXERCISES?
Remember - it took your entire lifetime for your feet to get into their current position; it’s going to take some time and effort to make see some changes as you work your way out of flat footedness.
I recommend performing these exercises once daily for 6-8 weeks to see the improvement you’ll make.
    DID YOU TRY THESE EXERCISES?
    DID THEY HELP YOU?
Because if so, I would love to hear about it!

I have been doing this routine daily for a month now and have some thoughts and comments. The workout takes 15-20 minutes daily and is extremely helpful. I can feel the realignment of my ankle, tibia, knees, femur, hip and all the way to my lower back. It's not a cure but its the best treatment I've ever run across. Its hard for me to believe that I have been spending so much time at the gym for so many years and ignoring my feet the whole time. I'm also impressed with how flexible Dr. Beckstrand's feet are. I watch this video every time I perform this routine and try to mimic how he moves his toes and his foot. I find that toe placement and movement have a big impact. I'm a subscriber and a big fan, thank you so much for putting this out there!

You're so welcome, Mandy! Now keep in mind - the actual bones and ligaments that make up your foot cannot be changed with exercise, but the muscles that stabilize your foot and control your ankle can certainly be trained to function better... and that's what this video is all about! Hope they help you and hope you see some benefit from these exercises!!

@@toneandtighten I don’t want to sound like a jerk, but frankly it would seem to me that the title of your video as well as the thumbnail image you chose are a bit clickbaitish. Because with this comment it sounds like you’ve kind of backpedaled. Because the title of the video is “FIX FLAT FEET!” Most people are going to interpret that as that it’s possible to cure flat feet with exercise. Just curious, do you have photographic proof of someone who has “fixed” their flat feet? There are other videos detailing this same thing and I’m a bit suspicious that the “before and after” in all of their thumbnails is fake. It actually looks like the person is intentionally arching their foot just for the picture. Yours kinda looks like this too.
My line of thinking is that if it were truly possible to fix flat feet with physical therapy, then it would be a monumentous piece of news in the medical world and you’d hear about it more.

My daughter’s arches collapsed because of the treatment she went through for her idiopathic toe walking.
They successfully corrected the toe walking which was quite an accomplishment considering how underdeveloped her heel is, and how short and tight her Achilles’ was.
It’s been a hard year with casts, wheelchair, and A.F.O.s, but she’s finally graduated to just wearing orthotics.
It’s VERY obvious that the orthotics alone aren’t going to actually heal her arches.
They have prescribed P.T. but I’m nervous about the time and money for it. Please don’t be too quick to judge, I have 5 other children still living at home to take care of as well, one of which has clubfoot and requires treatment as well.
It looks like most of these exercises are doing about the opposite thing to what we’re used to doing for my son’s clubfoot.
This video is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much!

These tips are pretty cool. I'm flat footed and severely over pronate (aka, I'm very "pigeon toed." I didn't even make the connection between my knee pain and the instability of my foundation. I did a gait analysis test once and discovered that my left leg rotates inward at the hip and that one leg is longer than the other, which I'd learned growing up.
During my PT sessions some trillions of years ago, I did something similar to the towel scrunch. I also had to pick up marbles with my toes and use a dough roller under my arches. These exercises actually do work (if you maintain them). Once in my life I experienced walking without foot pain. I couldn't believe that was normal! I'm still in pain because I haven't kept up with it.

Dr. Jared, I’m soooo hoping these exercises will help me as a new adult ice skater struggling with pronation in my skates. The pronation translates to me struggling to get off my inside edges all the time, and I just can’t seem to progress. I would love to see a video from you about basic balance required for new figure skaters! Between pronation and balance, skaters are always looking for online resources to help with these crucial and fundamental concepts.

May have to go with an Arizona brace, but I'm doing my best to prevent this. These exercises have already helped! I do have some pain on the top upper R of my foot, at the 5 o'clock position, but I suspect it's arthritis/ inflammation from the bones being crammed together. But, the orthotics have helped this. Anyway, will be doing these daily!! Thank goodness my L foot is ok, lol! I hurt my back 26 yrs ago, and my right foot has suffered from the injury, due to disc herniations. But, I'm a firm believer that exercises WORK, and I will be doing these every day! Thanks again! 👍😁
