In this video I show you step by step how I change the oil and clean the oil screen in my Yamaha Zuma 125. Maybe it will help you get the job done for yourself.
I am a woman zuma rider and your video helped me learn how to change my oil on my own. I just did it. I am now very much looking forward to dropping off the used oil at the dealership who told me I would screw it up if I tried to do it myself. Thanks and MAKE MORE VIDEOS!
In a pinch I get a Hefty garbage bag squared off with 4 bricks at each corner and put kitty litter underneath. Kitty litter is apparently a good oil absorbent. I use Mobil 1 FS 0-40 or Mobile 1 FS X2 5W-50 or Mobile 1 Extended Performance 5W-30. Only the Extended Performance one lets you change every 15,000 miles like on a Porsche or VW. The extended performance is probably the best one and I think the most expensive, but dang all you need is a quart!
You don't need any special motorcycle oil, scooters don't have a gear box, wet clutch, or any clutch/gears for that matter. Save yourself the money and just buy the best automotive grade oil you want to use. The API grade of oils called for in the Zuma service manuals, even the 2019 Zuma, are all obsolete anyway. The current standard SN grade of oil replaces the previous obsolete grades. I just buy the cheapest full synthetic I can find. However even if you used the cheapest conventional oil available your scooter will probably still run forever, with regular service.

My 2012 zuma 125 has been sitting fot about a year and six mos. I've started it up a couple times and let it run just let the oil and gear oil flow. Before I let it sit, i would ride it and stop somewhere and it wouldn't start. I waited for a while and played with the start button and it turned over. I made it home. This has happened on a couple of occasions. Maybe like 4 times at unexpected times. I have changed the battery at least once since I've owned it and I always changed the oil myself. Have this ever happened to you? I went back there two days ago and it started just fine. Any suggestions on what it could be? Thanks for this video. This was a refresher to changing my oil.
@@samking4179 already fixed, the fuel line was clogged. Also, my Zuma works with the kickstand down. Helps in case it tips to the left. It doesn't fall over. You don't have a kickstand on yours?
Hi, question. I have the BWS125 and on the manual it only tells me to remove the oil drain bolt which is on the side of the stand. It doesn't say anything about that main big bolt directly under the scooter. Should i do both
Shak Attack Moto just a reminder I'm not a pro and any advice I give is strictly based on my personal experience. You can try using a longer wrench or getting a "cheater pipe" to slide over the wrench to extend it and increase leverage. You may also try lubricating and cleaning the bolt and area around it. You can also try tapping the wrench handle with a mallet or small hammer, which work kind of like an impact to pop the bolt free. Just be very careful not to strip the bolt head with any of these methods. I have also used a small hand torch to heat seized bolts before loosening, which I've had good luck with, but I'd be nervous to torch my oil drain bolt. Best of luck to you, my friend. Be careful with that bolt head.
S.J Moto I would think the oil spray I think it’s called WD40 spray or any kinda of Bolt using spray if not a power gun would do the trick🤔 thinking that might do the job.. Check with the scooter or car machine before do so... I would make them moves myself. Before striping it.
i was surprised when i take out the oil drain bolt it pops out to my drain containers and i wonder where the small copper washer came from lol. do you know where is the copper washer located at?
same here a copper washer came out, went to the dealer. he looked on the parts manual, no copper washer! it must go in first, than the screen and spring
what is, "regular" oil? no such thing in my book. it's a 4-stroke ... so??? what is "motorcycle oil?" motorcycles come in two flavors, 2-stroke and 4-stroke. is 2-stroke crankcase oil different from 4-stroke crankcase oil????

What year is your zuma? I've got a 2011 and the bike sounds like it's popping/hissing at full throttle. I adjusted the valves and the previous owner let the bike sit for two years. It has 4800 miles now. Any ideas?
If it sat for some time it is possible that you have deposits in the fuel system. I use a product called B-12 that works like Seafoam. I have never had luck with it, but the B-12 smoothes out rough running.

Service manual for 2009 zuma 125 shows initial engine oil change at 1000 km then every 3000 km, cleaning strainer every 6000 km.

You probably get away with it, but that bolt does contain some leftover dirty oil and it would be a good idea to clean the oil filter

That is not the bolt for the oil its actually the one right there on the left with the weird knobs that's the actual drain plug

I liked the video, but the manual asks for regular oil, not motorcycle oil... I've never used motorcycle oil on the Zuma 125.
Aryn Long I've never used regular oil in anything with two wheels.
Because you don't have a wet clutch and the gear box is separately lubricated from the engine, use regular motor oil.
