The nice thing about this one is that once folded the cards align perfectly. I hate wallets where cards are stacked but not aligned, it makes for the cards to bend over time.
A truly international wallet. Love the material breakdown and I think I speak for everyone when I say we need to see more wallet rubbing.
I love this wallet! ❤ great review Mark!
Really nice piece! Good presentation.
Great video! The Slim Sleeve and the Altitude are the exact 2 wallets that I was torn between before coming across your reviews so this is perfect
Pioneer's plaid is so dapper. Love'em so much....and I'm a leather guy! Def. waiting on a zip wallet in brown as my cycling wallet.
Size wise, I’d compare it more with the Bellroy Note sleeve than the slim. And I could see that you struggled a bit to insert the American dollars, just like with the Note I have. Besides, the Note can carry a whole lot more cards in the slot with the pull tab, and in the back slot, sharing the space with the bill fold. It also has the super useful coin pocket, which I use a lot. Overall I feel is a much better design. Sadly it has RFID, so I can’t use my subway card without pulling it out of the wallet.
Hi Mark! Great review.
How about a comparison with the Bellroy Note Sleeve 🤔
Which one do you think is better?
Thanks & all the best!
Thank you for the review. Could you please do a review on Pioneer Passport Wallet?
Nice review. If I thought I might travel before I die, I'd consider this one!
Do they ship to the UK ? Or sell anywhere in the UK ?
Thanks. Great review btw! ☺️
Would love a photo ID window pocket
Nice to have you back!
This reminds a lot of my all time favorite wallet, the Slim Sleeve. I might to pick one up some time!
Soooooo......I made this comment before you made the comparison, so I'm glad we're on the same page! 😂
Maybe be my next wallet.
New to your channel 🙂 gonna keep watching your reviews till I find a good wallet
Love every thing about this wallet except the sewing folded edges and the price!
just bought today , practical to me😀
Is there a full grain leather slim bifold wallet that hold all currenciestoo that can use without compromise for daily and travel usages?
Just wondering, have you had a chance to review the baby ballistic material? Trying to work out the difference in terms of softness and feel to the 3XD 😊
Will the card dropout if the only put one in the vertical slot?
any cards slip from the front pockets when only 1 is in place ? seems like nobody is doing follow up videos
Hi.. can u try insert 20 flat bills coz in malaysia most of them carry more then 20 flat bills..
Nice review with good new opening. This wallet looks to be one of the better one functionally. This does not look bad with very clean seam. The concern for the material is usually scratch marks over time and water resistancy fading over time. I will wait for carry test but I suspect this will be better than the belroy.
For travel wallet though, probably you can put the coins inside the interior slots which opens to the spine, but this one seems to have large gap on the spine. This may or may not cause coins slipped out in some condition.
The material in Pioneer's wallets won't scratch unless you take a razor to it. People have been carrying Pioneer's wallets for several years and I've never read where the color faded or the wallet failed due to wear and tear, the material is impressive. Regarding the spin depth, you're right, that's what makes it work with all the currencies, just a big wider, which would risk coins falling out.
@@walletopia I think I will put this on my short list to watch when the time come. Thank you very much!
This wallet is sexy! That's my favorite color! 🤭 I'm here comparing it to my current wallet which is the Allett, another one of your recommendations! Thanks for doing this review.
i love pioneer (bifold, tactile feeling, strong and sleek), but they don't hold coins. do you have other recommendation for similar style that can hold coins?
Interesting review. Funny that you compare it with the slim sleeve and say you'd sacrifice some of the small footprint for the billfold. Because that's also almost exactly what the note sleeve is which imho would be a more direct competitor to this one...
Yes, it is, but the layout's a bit different. It's kind of in the middle. I have some comparisons using the Note Sleeve coming up.
@@walletopia I'm looking forward to this comparison. I need a wallet that can handle international currencies well. I'm having a hard time deciding between the Pioneer Altitude and Bellroy Note Sleeve. Love the idea of the materials used in the Pioneer, but the Bellroy seems a bit more feature-rich. I'm just wondering how useful those extra features might be in real-world conditions. I typically keep coins in my pocket. The coin pocket on the Bellroy seems it would be a bit fiddly and limited in its actual use for coins, but I could see other things going in there. I do like the extra "hidden" pocket in the billfold of the Bellroy. I can see that being useful for hotel card keys, reducing the need to take it out of your wallet. Great work on the videos BTW. Loving the channel.
This or Open Sea 50/50 for daily and travel use?
You've lost weight!
Try review the goyard card holder
Great review Mark - I think there should be more rubbing of wallets on head and face as a quality indicator! Is it made of similar material to the Dango Stealth wallet?
Hey Mike, they look alike, but are different materials. But yes, more wallet rubbing!
@@walletopia you can't beat a nice rub-down with a bit of Buttero! (Oops - did i post that out loud?! 🤣)
You got me wanting to switch wallets like every other week! This wallet is fantastic.. but I shall stick with my two week old Magpul.. for now.
Addiction setting in! Must. Resist. The. Urge to buy more wallets!!!
you should review the toughergun money clip bifold wallet. just bought it for only $5 and its just as good as a $30 travelambo.
Yes, it seems to be a sister brand of Buffway and few others. I did a carry test on the Buffway and it performed really well. Excellent value for the cost.
This is smaller than Note Sleeve from Bellroy?
I prefer leather and guick access and a little big but a good good review6
You should have compared this with Bellroy Note Sleeve instead.
Will it fit an international driver's license?
How does this 3PN stuff feel? Is it like sandpaper? love the wallet really want it. Just looks like it would feel like sand paper.
Actually it’s not bad at all. Between the 3PN and the 10XD, the 3PN is very pliable and feels okay. The 10XD is rough to the touch.
@@walletopia just ordered one!
the intro is finally fixed? not laggy anymore, feels much better
Yes! Buttttttt, there are few other videos coming up with the lower FPS intro, it'll finally disappear soon enough.
I love this wallet, just a shame they don't have a clear section where you can just flip your wallet open and see your license instead of having to take it out.
Might just be me, but I can't remember the last time someone asking for my ID didn't require me to take it out. I would imagine it's the "is this real" or to scan the back for information.
I usually don't care for bifold wallets made out of material other than leather, but this one seems really nice. Why did you give it a 3 on the price? Do you think the quality vs. price is off?
Hi Paul, the price falls in line with similar products in the market and aligns with materials, so it's a balanced score we'd expect.
Off topic rant alert! Please read and move along 😂 😂 why the f**k does my iOS app keep changing resolution back to 480? I want 1080p! Dammit.
Anyway, I’ve always loved the features and idea behind the Pioneer wallets, but am addicted to leather right now. This looks great too 👍🏻 nice job with the billfold pocket for all notes. Awesome. Thx Mark 😃👍🏻 Don’t worry about the £50 notes though, no one accepts em over here as we all think counterfeit all the time 😆 I’m 51 and never held a £50 note.
Good to hear on the £50, I wasn't aware of that, and I'm glad it's falling in line with the rest of the poly notes soon
How to get it
Please review Vanacci Stealth Wallet 3.0
Great review. You look like you loss some weight, that's great! I streamed your video on my 65" tv and you look trim lol. I lost about 20 pounds recently. Keep up the awesome content.
Great job! Trying to lose weight during all this COVID nastiness can be difficult.
How does this compare to the bellroy note sleeve?
By way of durability and longevity, the Altitude kills the Note Sleeve. The difference in materials is the biggest thing between them.
Very nice wallet, I'm not paying 85+ for it though.
Hey Guys! greetings from Brazil :)
Have you ever heard of the TRU VIRTRU? It would be nice to review and compare against the Secrid
Hi Jose, yes! We have it in our inventory, I’ll add your vote to it!
Hi Mark I like the altitude wallet. However which material do you suggest me buying 10xp or the 3pn?
I've reviewed wallets with both materials. Both are excellent, but I found the 3PN to be more pliable, less stiff than 10XD wallets.
Oh ok, but which one is more likely to be more durable?
Interesting question. Honestly I don’t know. Unless I’m rubbing the wallet on cement I would trust both to last a long time.
Hi Mark thanks for being accommodating with our questions. By the way just thought of something.. by any chance are you also planning to review or perhaps do a trivia on classic wallets..? Say turn of the century wallets,1940s, 1950s so on. That will be a treat to wallet aficionados For sure.. seeing how wallets back in the day looks like 😊
@@carlomagnojamisola4052 Interesting idea. We've done some research on the history of wallets, and there's even a museum of purses and bags (no wallets), in Amsterdam, so we'll look at it.
Will a usa passport fit in half of the bill fold area? If so that would be a great travel wallet.
I just tested it and unfortunately no. The passport is significantly larger than the wallet. Even placing the passport, folded into the billfold area, it's too big for the wallet to close.
@@walletopia thanks for the reply!
they make a passport bi-fold wallet version as well
Another suggestion are Harrison Australia wallets, they have a cardholder and a money clip, they’re made from kangaroo leather so it’s something new
We’ve got one! I really love kangaroo leather. So thin and so strong.
@@walletopia hope there’s plans to review it! I look ward to it if so
@@alexp3997 Indeed there is! In the publishing schedule it should show up in about a month or so.
Hi Mark, how about you what wallet do you use?
I'm always carrying a wallet for our carry test videos. I've been carrying the Open Seas Houbei for a few weeks now.
man are you okey?? you lost weight. we love this chanel
I could barely make it through the video because I kept breaking it down to the jam playing 3:33 during the card and cash insertion test. Play, rewind, play, rewind, play that jam.
😂. That is one of the better audio tracks I've found laterly.
P.S. Pioneer needs to be compared to the Note Sleeve and not Slim Sleeve as they’re two different wallets. A billfold will always be bigger than a slim wallet 👍🏻 Either way, a well deserved top score for the Pioneer!
Yes, agreed the Note Sleeve is a bit closer to this one, but I couldn't resist pulling the Slim Sleeve out just to see 😂
How often do you review wallets from outside the US or North America?
All the time.
@@walletopia Oh, ok cool. 😀
You have lost a lot of weight since you began! Very happy for you! ☺have you been doing anything different?
Thanks! No really, just eating less, moving more.
i wish you talked about no see through for ID-card and nothing for coins.
Yes, it barely did cards, no cash, so coins would be last in consideration. I've not seen a MagSafe wallet that has an ID window. If you come across one let me know!
can you look at the Misc Slim Wallet?
Misc Goods? That wallet is coming up in about a week.
@@walletopia perfect!! i’ve been debating it for a while
I think a real traveler's wallet needs a coins compartment as some countries do still use coins extensively. Nevertheless, great review!
Absolutely right Tom! Whenever I leave the US my wallet can handle coins, a must have!
Big like
I have this wallet, but it's not all that great. The material is really nice, but it's not well put together. The two main pockets are noticeably askew and the outer piece of material that forms the bill holder is poorly fitted, making the entire wallet asymmetrical and off balance. Honestly one of the most disappointing purchases I've made in a long time. But I figured it was just a one-off mistake that slipped through QA, so I tried another one of Pioneer's wallets. It had better construction, but the material is full of unsightly creases. On top of all of that, Pioneer's customer service is sloooow. I've given up on dealing with them because it takes WEEKS for them to respond, even to an open ticket.
That’s discouraging! Thanks for the insights!
I am sure this will be a controversial one. The exterior certainly does not appeal to me, but maybe the color is just....boring? Of course, I can't really say a lot about the material, maybe it has a good hand feel? The interior doesn´t knock me out of my shoes, yeah it takes a few cards. If we one day, post-Corona, frequently travel between countries with small footprint bills and large bills, I don't have to like fold my bills? Btw, for Japan, I would say it misses the coin compartment anyway. Anyway, this makes wallet addiction so much fun, some just don't trigger. :)
Great observations, which are all correct. For coin markets it misses that mark, but is a great traveler wallet for cash. The colors are all pretty muted, but the 3PN colors are more malleable than the 10XD.
This or Bellroy Slim Sleeve/Note Sleeve ?
Serious toss-up. Comes down to the material preference
Coins?
No, not explicitly. So while it works with all currencies, it does miss what we would consider a true world traveler wallet due to not handing coins!
Hello sir, I have a question. Your video's BOOOO RFID protection, and in this one you call it a marketing scam, yet, you are extremely supportive of DANGO products, which is built on the premise of RFID. So With this wallet getting a 40 and Dango wallets averaging a 38-40 range for you, I wonder how much the RFID thing really matters in your ratings or if that is a side joke, because your reviews seem to focus their ratings on style points and usability. Just wondering if you could address that. Is there RFID scamming or not, is it a deal or not? Thank you for the wonderful videos.
Great question Jim. I'm supportive of all products I review and I don't demerit a wallet if it has RFID. I just complain about it to educate buyers so they realize they don't need RFID protection, but if they still want it to get an RFID card instead.
@@walletopia Thank you sir. I thank you for your reviews, and just noticed your a fellow Utahn. Keep up the great work.
Espresso for breakfast?
Is this the guy who owns Amazon ?
Why I think you lost many pounds man :-D You look much slimer :-D Thats awesome
Very poor finishing for a whooping 85 bucks!
Are you alright sir? You seem lose weight recently
Yes, thank you for asking!
Looks like you lost lot of weight. Hope you are alright.
Thanks, I'm doing good, just needed to shed a few pounds :)
Made in vietnam? Wut
Yes! A lot of manufacturing has been moving from China to other south asian countries.
Too $ for what it is. It's a cheap material.
