Band Info:
The band is named after the fast food restaurant Burger King as a prank. The band was founded in May 1995 by Aris Tanto a.k.a. Eben, sometimes called 'Ebenz', a young man from Jakarta, who came to Bandung to continue his study. In Bandung, Ebenz met Ivan Scumbag, Kimung, and Dadan.

The director is basically functioning as a metronome, soundproducer and mixer at the same time. Doing so in real time.
Each musician in an orchestra or ensemble already know how to play their part perfectly, and will most likely not drift the tempo, but when you have enough people it will get sloppy and uncoordinated at some point, especially for the musicians on the edges, simply because of distance.
The director is in an optimal position to visually guide the tempo, which they do with their stick. The motion is not random, but is actually coordinated count in whatever division and tempo the piece requires. The director also instructs the length and interpretation of pauses and tempo changes.
The other part of their job is to pull or dampen sound levels and intensity from each section of the orchestra until a coherent sound is achieved. In cases of a piece with a soloist, the director may sometimes choose to defer to them on tempo and simply follow and interpret the solo for the rest of the orchestra.
