    Great review. I had to have a smile when you said the shape of C430 casting was an upgrade as I have the old quantum 9910 and the castings seem the same. Even how the bobbins fit in the corner of the top!

    Roxanne, I just found you... I have the Stylist 9960 and truly love it... I don't use it often as i have a Juki DX7, as well as Viking's TOPAZ50, and the new EPIC 95Q ( and I don't quilt), LOL... however, I truly enjoyed your videos I've watched and am now a subscriber... You do an outstanding job in your reviewing, and you speak well and so understandable... Thank you for your valuable time for what you're doing for so many.... I hope they appreciate the quality of your work.... Jon

    Great review!!! I had a 9960 but kept hitting the stop/start by mistake when reversing. I also already owned most of the accessories, minus the extension table so I took a chance on the c430 and sent the 9960 back. It seemed a lot like the 9960 except all the extras. I anxiously awaited this comparison video as I was nervous that I would trade off functionality but alas I am THRILLED because you compared them and for my needs the c430 is perfect. I also like the look of the c430, ergonomically I find the curve on the edge more comfortable. I find that watching your 9960 also helps me to understand and use this machine much better than their manual. I was able to switch my needle to the right on the c430 based on a video you made for the 9960. Your videos are even better than Singers and you explain and demonstrate things so well. I am happy I found you and my new sewing machine. If I didn't already have all the extras (minus the extension table) I would have stayed with the 9960 because the extension table alone is 99 dollars on the website, with the walking foot and everything else the value package is phenomenal. However I am LOVING my c430, reassured that I made a good decision after this comparison video.

      @RoxanneStitches  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Selena. The Singer 9960 & the C430 are comparable machines. They have basically the same features but come with different accessories. The Lia has adjustable presser foot pressure & memory storage capabilities that the Singer's lack, but doesn't have the auto cutter button. The Lia is also not returnable to Mood if you decide it's not the right machine for you whereas the others purchased through many vendors is returnable. I'm also not clear on any warranty on the Lia, but it appears to be a solid functioning machine. If there's anything specific that you'd like to see in a video about the Lia, let me know.

    Thank you..Thank you Roxanne for your informative videos on these machines. When I first got my 9960, I used your vids to help make the choice to purchase and to use. I have been contemplating purchasing a back up machine for the past few months. I had looked up the cost to replace the computer module should it go out on the 9960 and after seeing the cost of around three hundred, decided it would be best to find a backup machine. I had seen this new model on your channel and have been waiting for your comparison. Although this model appears to be as good as the 9960, I think I will stick with the original model for backup. I very much appreciate your time you spent doing the videos. Happy Holidays

    Hi Roxanne. Thank you so much for making such a helpful review. As chance would have it, I had just completed a paper-based comparison when I came across your review, so it was great seeing the machines side-by-side for comparison. I note one of the key differences between the C340 and the 9960 appears to be the absence of a SFDS system in the C340. Notwithstanding, if you had to choose between the two machines, which one would it be?

      Hi Kimberly, Both machines are great for crafting, quilting and garment sewing. I don't find either machine to be super heavy duty, but other owners make heavier projects with the 9960 using the proper needle and thread. I find these 2 machine comparable. The 9960 is more $$ but it comes with more. The C430 has a couple of different features, is less expensive and comes with less accessories.

    just curious of any insight on why the feeder may not be working. seller also mentioned that he was hoping to sew some heavier fabric (neoprene) and it didn't work for him.
    i researched it and seems like it could be an easy fix.

    • @RoxanneStitches
      @RoxanneStitches  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Jerry. I have a couple of ideas for you to look at. Is the feed dog lever engaged? If so, turning the hand wheel towards you in one full rotation should bring them back up. That's the easy fix. Now if that doesn't work, it could be the plastic post that the feed dogs sit on. It could be broken or just off the post. Gently lift the feed dogs in the back and see if that's it. HTH. As far as not sewing a specific fabrication, there are many factors with that. Did they use the proper needle and thread? We're they forcing a heavy fabrication through the machine which resulted in damaging the feed dogs? Were they trying to use this machine for a business when it's just meant for hobby sewing? I don't find this machine to be a heavy duty machine, but many owners have luck with the correct needle, thread and speed. Good luck

      @@RoxanneStitches thanks for all the info, roxanne.
      so just got it home. not all the accessories came with it, but a friend has a singer specific accessory kit (various presser feet) and singer extension table that she doesn't have a need for, so lucky me.
      after a quick inspection of visible moving parts and making sure the feed dog actually moved up and down, i took off the throat plate. it was pretty dirty, a lot of lint, so i vacuumed and cleaned the bobbin housing and surrounding area. feed dog set screw looked good. so i put everything back.
      luckily it came with one bobbin and i have extra needles, so wound a bobbin and threaded the needle with automatic threader, and the machine works.
      ran a line of stitches and adjusted width and length, and they work as well.
      i only have one presser foot (A) so was limited to testing stitches that require that foot.
      it sounds great, it feeds fabric, the auto cutter works, and the buttons are able to cycle thru different settings.
      i'm pretty stoked that i was able to pick this up for $150, and think it's still a good deal even with missing accessories (which a friend has and is no longer using).
      once again, thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills.

      That's great Jerry! You got a great deal! Most low shank accessories and feet will fit the 9960 so you can build your collection as needed. Happy sewing!!

      Yes, of course they can, but that's not considered being green. Most people don't appreciate printing their own manuals.

      I was a little disappointed that the C430 didn't come with a manual as well. Most people keep their machines for a number of years so I think it justifies the use of paper. My local has strict recycling enforcement so the paper (and the machine) will be recycled when replaced.

      Hi Lon. I agree about a written manual. Was so glad my new Lia sewing machine came with one. I like to make notes in my books as reference for settings and such. Yes I could print it myself, but it's much nicer when professionally printed.
