NOTE: Just to clarify. At 5:07, when discussing adding a token onto a food symbol, if you are taking advantage of trading in two food as any 1 food - you treat those as the food they "became", just not as the tokens they were. So if you trade in two fruit tokens to fulfill a seed cost, and the bird had a seed cost - you can place a duet token onto a seed space.

Does a wild food cost on a bird card match any food type on the duet board? (Like a wild star nest matches any type of nest?) Or no food spaces or the food type you actually used when playing the bird?

Out of all the board game youtubers I've watched, Rodney Smith's format for teaching a board game is by far the best for me. Clear and precise. Feels like their is no wasted time.

Monique did a great job with this tutorial, especially being her first one. Let's hope she'll reach Rodney's expertise on teaching board games in the future.
In addition, maybe we'll see the other people on the Watch It Played channel doing board game tutorials someday, especially if Chaz can teach a game and make us laugh at the same time during it, Paula and Matt teach a 2-player game and argue about who teaches what part, etc.

Question - when taking a reward for placing a duet token do they mean food from the supply or feeder and likewise a clarification with taking a bird card from the tray or the deck?

Hi Nathan, those symbols would be resolve just as they are in the base game.
this is what it says in the rulebook from what i could find:
BONUS:
Some spaces on the Duet map have bonuses.
If the space that you use has an egg, card, or food die on it,
you gain the item shown.
so I think it's a food die and not a token, and a card from wherever you want, tray/deck:) that's how i read it at least.

I really like how this game has so many different modes. I think we'll just use the birds, because we enjoy the regular game so much already. Monique, you picked a doozy of a video for your FIRST one--I mean, this game has so many modes, that had to be intimidating! But you pulled it off so well.

Question: how the pink ability birds interact in flock mode? They check only your group or the whole table?

Duet seems like a quite different flow, with that new card area and tokens. What are pros and cons of 2-player duet vs 2-player standard? Is duet trying to accomplish something like more streamlined, faster play or anything like that?
I think in part, the benefit is the self contained nature of being able to play from this one box, but as I don’t do review styles analysis, this question might be better suited for someone else to try to answer.
