The Black Hills Central Railroad is a heritage railroad that operates in Keystone, South Dakota, United States. The railroad was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 5, 2003.
An 1880 Train ride is a two-hour, narrated 20-mile round trip between Hill City and Keystone South Dakota in the beautiful Black Hills. Join us for a relaxing, slow-pace ride while enjoying vistas of Black Elk Peak, mining encampments, and the original rail connection between Hill City and Keystone laid down in the late 1880s. The Black Hills Central Railroad is the oldest continuously operating standard gauge steam railroad in the nation. Daily departures from mid-May to mid-October utilizing vintage steam locomotives and beautifully restored passenger equipment.
