Man, if Big D had not risked going off stage in game 3, he would probably have beaten Sonix in a big upset and probably get top 8. One of the best sets I've ever watched, had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.
I just don't understand the people complaining about camping. Even the longer games are pretty short compared to most spectator sports and there's constant tension and mindgames which is enjoyable in its own way.
In this matchup, the first stock usually decides the whole game. If Sonic gets a lead he can camp, but he also struggles to break Icies' zone due to blizzard and all the other egregious hitboxes icies has. It's also not as simple separating the Climbers compared to other characters since you don't have disjoints or rapid moves. With all that in mind, very good execution from Sonix. It's not free regardless of what people may believe.
I want that guy who loves sonix and believes he never camps to watch this set I've seen Grand finals that have resets that are shorter than this Hell the game 5 Olimar vs Snake was shorter than this 💀
sonix played the matchup correctly imo: if he just rushes in blind, ics beat the ever-loving shit out of sonic. that being said, sonix being a great player with a lot of matchup knowledge across the board still didnt really help the fact that this was a mad boring set lol.
Yea. Sonic is a cancer cuz you have to play someone mobile + disjoint to punish literally anything spindash, and if youre low mobility its run -> spindash charge in the corner and thats game

@@DowntownWithBrown that was a pretty high spin dash, I’m referring to when a sonic spin dashes on the ground into IC’s, Utilt used to just scoop them up out of it or at worst trade. But yes high spin attacks should also be covered by this
The saving grace for Icies is that they can defend themselves with Blizzard while throwing out projectiles. Dedede can't do that, he's wide open to punishes when he throws out a Gordo.
13:54 its fucked up that sonic can turn around and back air after homing attack. I feel like he should end up facing whichever direction he goes. But honestly fair would probably kill there anyways
Bro homing attack normally does send Sonic away from his opponent on hit, but you can B reverse it and it’s useful for combos. It’s literally just a use of a universal tech lmfao
I get it, Sonix had to play this way to secure the win, and like so many others think, its just not fun to watch. Sonic just has the speed to turn so many matchups neutral/in his favor, rather than needing to pick up a secondary character to deal with bad matchups. Gz to Sonix, hes the best to ever play the character, regardless of all the hate he has to take to solo him. Guess if my favorite character could literally be on the other side of the stage before my opponent can land after a short hop aerial, I'd abuse it too.
I am convinced everyone says this because in reality they really hate Sonix, but they want to have a buff and cool personality online so they just go and say this.
