    Looks good. Now why do you consider that work an "Americanization " of the roundhouse? What makes it American compared to the original out-of-the-box? I am interested in it as I will sratch-build my roundhouse, thanks!

    • @N-Scale
      @N-Scale Před 5 lety

      I stuccoed the outside and it had no doors , so I scratch built the doors.
      Thanks , Mike

    Hey Mike. Enjoyed this video. I'm thinking I might try a brick face of some sort on my roundhouse, although the stucco in a darker shade might work. Could you clarify what you mean by a "black wash"?

    • @N-Scale
      @N-Scale Před 3 lety +1

      Greatly thinned Black acrylic wash

    Very nicely done Mike, you've really improved the look. I really like the stucco effect on the outside. I think I will have a go at doing that on my layout. Thank you for sharing, best wishes.

    can you give out some info on the styrene material you used and also the stucco material. I'm new at this and any help is appreciated. I just ordered the turntable and roundhouse. Here's hoping !!

    • @N-Scale
      @N-Scale Před 3 lety

      I do not remember on the styrene as I had it lying around. The Stucco is simply Acrylic paint with ANY color of Arizona Rock and Mineral powder mixed in to a near paste.

    Hi Mike! You did an amazing job on this project! I wish that you would have showed exactly how you applied your stucco mixture to various parts of the structure. To do this, did you use an airbrush or a regular brush?
    -from Tom Pilling

    • @N-Scale
      @N-Scale Před 6 lety +1

      I used a soft 1/2" brush and brushed on the first coat and then stippled on the second coat.

      Wonder if a copper or shheet metal roog might be more appropriate should not be hard modification

    Nice job! When I built my Walthers packing plant, I improved the look of the roof by painting it flat black, and then while the paint was still wet I thoroughly covered it in cinders. Once the paint had dried I shook the excess cinders off into a paper towel (and then back into the package). Then I used some diluted matte medium to secure the cinders completely. Looks like an asphalt/gravel roof now! Much better than plain plastic, even if it is painted! I like the stucco look on the outside, too. Very nicely done!
