  • I love how the Full Focus Planner is designed to help you see new perspectives and illuminate what's most important each day.
    My in-depth review of Michael Hyatt's Full Focus Planner! The 4th edition is out today and I think it is a great structured planner with 3 new styles and 7 different colors, including the Black Leather "Executive" style, 2 "Classic" colors, and 4 new colors in the "Bold" style with beautifully designed end pages and two-tone ink on the pages.
    I highly recommend the Full Focus Planner as a goal-focused planner to help you achieve what you care most about in life. You can purchase a new edition of the Full Focus Planner by using my affiliate link: fullfocusplanne... (I get a small commission at no cost to you).
    This is a massive review because there's so much to cover, so feel free to skip around on the timestamps to find the section you're interested in. Or watch the entire thing and give me a boost in the ol' CZcams algorithm.

    I decided to transition from a full calendar year goal planner to a quarterly goal planner in an effort to prevent burnout &/or overwhelm. I just purchased my first full focus planner & am excited. Seems a very limited amount of CZcams videos are available, so I appreciate your taking the time to film this.

    Thanks for your well-informed video!
    The Full Focus format, an AM/work wrap up/PM ritual/top 3 tasks, has been my ideal daily plan for yrs. I have list for: non-negotiables, must-dos, & extra tasks; I also like extra space for general notes.
    Altho this planner’s format would suit me, the issue making me hesitate is what I discovered upon researching the owner. His out-of-touch, limiting, self-serving business ethics; even the FB group disclaimer, that many are “Christians & may not understand your world view & jargon...” makes it clear which group his company deems as “other/outsider.” 🚩 Major deal-breaker.
    Thanks for highlighting this, but I’ll stick to the wise & open, not alienating nor divisive, BuJo products & community.

    I have used the FFP. Wonderful product for being productive and reaching your goals. The planner assists the user during the weekly preview to help set themselves up for reaching their goals for the upcoming week, and to determine what behaviors need to change. Thanks for the review.

    Thanks for the review, Matt. I find that the flexibility of a bullet journal works better for me long-term, but I might try this out for a quarter in a spirit of research. There are a lot of good features.
    Re: Big Rocks - yes, this is a metaphor for major projects. I first encountered it in the Franklin Planner literature, likening planning your day to filling a bucket with rocks, gravel, and sand.

    I have been using this planner system for a while, and I see it as an advantage over bullet style journals. I just gifted my wife’s cousin with this system as he is midway through high school, and should be focusing on his next pathway of life. I bought him just the first quarter and sent him the link to this video, to see if he would gain an interest in using it. He is excited about it, so I ordered him the next 3 quarters.

    Hey, Matt, after using the FFP for the better part of a month, I have found that wasted space isn't really a problem. On days I have more notes than will fit, I thread back to one of the pages with leftover space. For me, at least, it balances out pretty well.

    I just started the FFP -- beginning Oct. 2019 as my first Q -- so watching your video was really timely and a good back-up for the FFP videos themselves. I hope they keep old plain one, however -- I would find all the colors too pretty and distracting. IMO, FFP is a super system, it is already helping me quite a bit. Getting ready to do my first weekly preview! Thanks!

    Amazing planner. I loved everything except for the cheap paper. I couldn't get into it because I'm addicted to fountain pens. A pilot kaküno EF with Robert Oster ink ghosted and almost bled through. The paper was worse than exceed from Walmart. But it is extremely functional and if you follow the system it's amazing.

      Matt, This was a great video. I just did the annual subscription, as it is ‘exactly’ what I’ve been working on writing in my bullet journal for the past several months. Having a more in-depth perspective already printed in, will make better use of my time. I love the idea of ‘tweaking’ monthly and then quarterly. I would only suggest that the ‘ideal week’ could be a monthly inclusion, as what is my ideal is influenced by the changing of seasons, etc. BUT,, I’m looking forward to a ‘cleaner and more clear’ quarter coming up. THANKS 🙏

    Great Video and tips on the review of the executive planner. It's not apparent to me that all of the new editions have all the same updates that are in the executive planner this video reviewed? Is the affiliate link for Favs only? On the FF website it has no affiliate marketing? I'm assuming their policy changed and they didn't get to updating their site.

    Seems to have stolen foundational franklin covey principles, hence you're not knowing what Big rocks referred to. The two page dailies are also very similar to FC. This planer is likely appealing to franklin covey users due to the weekly and quarterly reviews which aren't as prominent in franklin covey pages. Very thorough video!

  • @HeyLauryn

    Do you think it's worth the $40 price tag? It seems really expensive, and while they look beautiful and ai understand where the price comes from, I already have issues with keeping up a bullet journal and I'm worried about spending so much on just one book that might not work and now I have this journal that just sits there.
    I'm also a minimalist so having something I don't use and just ends up sitting somewhere hurts my soul a bit.

    • @MattRagland
      @MattRagland  Před 5 lety +3

      Good question Lauryn, can understand you want to be mindful of what you're doing with purchasing. I would say that if you watched the video and it looks like a system/structure that could work for you, then it's worth a 3 month try at it :)

      Mitch Girling that’s the beauty of bujo. It can change and grow with you. If you mess up, go to the next page. I think not having pre made pages keeps flexibility open. Cheers.

    Hey Matt (or anyone else) - I'm reading through Hyatt's "Free to Focus" and wondered if this might help me. Is it an expectation to carry it around with you all the time (like the Franklin Planner OR a BuJo)? There are times I want to just slip a Field Notes in my back pocket and a pen and just go without worrying about carrying a bulky book. The answer may be there in the book or somewhere, but I haven't found it.

    • @denisewenke8323
      @denisewenke8323 Před 4 lety

      Hey back - The expectation is to carry it around, but if you want or need to travel light sometimes, I've found it works fine to carry a small notebook, or perhaps an index card, and transfer key notes to the planner or bujo later.

    The lay out is very very specific...so many (for me) useless pages. Why would I have pages dedicated to rituals and routines etc.? So I have to check in a book to have morning coffee? Yeah it’s fun to write stuff down but 90% of it I would never look back at it again. I would only look in to the future (what are mine appointments).

    I'm sorry to say but men make much more detailed video's. Many videos on this subject are done by women. Most of the videos I've seen done by women focus more on the look of the planner and drawing pictures.
