- A grateful Donald Trump was in Milwaukee on Monday to make final preparations for the Republican presidential nomination later this week after narrowly escaping an assassination attempt that he said presented an opportunity to bring the country together.
Trump, 78, was holding a campaign rally on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania - a key state in the Nov. 5 election - when a 20-year-old man with an AR-15-style rifle got close enough to shoot at the former Republican president from a rooftop.
One shot hit Trump's upper right ear, leaving his face streaked with blood, but he was not severely wounded. His campaign said he was doing fine.
International security expert Will Geddes joins Talk’s Alex Phillips to discuss this further.

I agree that diversity initiatives can sometimes go too far. It's not that we shouldn't have female bodyguards, but we should be confident that any woman in this role has earned it through exceptional skill and excellence, rather than fulfilling a quota.

I am a woman, several years ago when I was looking for work, I came across a job position that had the requirements: 'must be able to lift 50 pounds'. I am unable to constantly lift 50 lbs throughout a working day, so I didn't apply for that job. So, why were there short and petite Secret Service Agents who were attempting to bodily protect Donald Trump, who is a big man and over 6 feet tall?? Female or Male -- Secret Service Agents need to be capable of doing their job of protection.

The whole thing is very fishy. It is impossible that the Secret Service didn't have that building fully secured. IMPOSSIBLE. Unless it was being intentionally ignored.
They lowered the physical requirements so these women could get hired. How can a 5 foot tall woman carry a man or even cover him from harm from bullets. These DEI women hires were more worried about themselves and image than the safety of the President.
The U.S. presidential elections have seen some intense moments, but an attempt on Trump's life is quite alarming. It's reminiscent of the incident during Ronald Reagan's presidency in 1981. Nowadays, it seems like there's a strong effort to undermine Trump, creating a concerning atmosphere that mirrors that of a third-world country.
Far too many failings on so many different levels to be coincidental , Trump should seriously angry with how this was even possible and heads should roll because of this.. doesn’t inspire much confidence with the protection services all round does it😡😡 and tbh if questions aren’t asked then you have to be asking yourself why not????
