- Watch Scoring With Opus: Nature Documentary, the fourth in our series of videos where we show you how to use our new OPUS Engine and all the instruments in ComposerCloud+ to score scenes for a film, television, or game production.
We'll be working with some really stunning visuals and the challenge here is to make sure the music is rising to the same level as the cinematography. This one also involves quite a few world instruments, so you'll be able to see how libraries like Silk and RA were used to compliment the orchestral elements.
You can find a complete list of all the instruments used in this video here: media.soundsonline.com/docs/s...
And of course, all of these instruments are available as part of a ComposerCloud+ subscription. Sign up today: www.soundsonline.com/composer...

Don’t underestimate the genius creativity going on inbetween this man’s ears. Oozing talent. The tools just help.
Ryan, your musicianship and composing abilities are just amazing. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
That was fantastic
Two thoughts went through my mind as you walked through this. First, OMG, I am such an amateur. This was followed by the realization that I actually have enough knowledge and experience to follow everything you presented in this video. I just haven't known how to organize my workflow effectively: I've been like a guy with a car that I hitched up to horses. I've been using what must be a very early version of Symphonic Orchestra Platinum with Play -- this orchestral sample set is much larger than mine, and is more sanely organized, and Opus makes it even easier. The Opus Play/Automation/MIDI Controller Mapping panel is pretty much worth the cost of Opus: any time I would dare to try to use a new sample, I had to drag out the documentation to see what controllers were available, and that often took me through different sections of the manual before I had a full picture. After this tutorial, I immediately signed up for Composer Cloud. Thank you for this, and the other tutorial walk-throughs you've supplied.
I am comprehending these videos better now. Alto Flute, French Horns, Lord of Toms, Goliath, Ra. I need to start writing down notes.
Very very good 😀
Excellent tutorial and orchestration. Thank you!
I'm only just listening to the beginning and it already sounds just awesome!
Valuable content, thanks for this tuto
Wonderful video Ryan 😁👍
What an amazing video. This man is insanely talented. I now wanna subscribe to composer cloud. What’s brilliant walkthrough
It took me far too long to get the GSus joke. Well played.
Thanks you very much
Amazing tutorials, Ryan is an extremely talented teacher and composer!
That was a beautiful score! Thanks for sharing and discussing it with us. :)
Thanks Ryan. Great information and very well presented. Your musical talent and knowledge also matches your remarkable talent and ability to use a DAW, manipulate midi notes, and bring it altogether. Thank you
Incredible!
Excellent
You know what I need❤️
Awesome skill. Great walkthrough. im fleshed!
Your mad composition skills make the library sing. Wow, it's inspiring though.
A very inspiring video. I’m a complete beginner to scoring and Opus. I’ve just signed up for the Composer loud subscription. Can’t wait to get stuck in but am currently a bit overwhelmed. 😊
Amazing!!!
Awesome job!
The material reviewed from 11:40 to 16:02 sounds like Skyrim. Well done,
Ryan uses his own choice of instruments, but the EW library is so large, it takes a lifetime to learn all the instruments. Add the filters and other settings in your DAW and find out the complexity. This was a very helpful session, but I need some time to grasp it all....
Fantastic, I am very new to the subscription service and still at a download and learn stage for every instrument, so this was truly revealing to me as to what can be done with these brilliant products. But in the meantime, it’s back to the downloads and finding out what all of this can do ?
Brilliant….
Please consider writing these great tutorials with Studio One or Cubase: project files could be shared with many of your customers on both Windows and macOS.
Great video and really nice piece! I love what you've done with it. One question: What is the keyboard/MIDI controller you're using? I can't quite make out the name at the far end.
Would be grate to also have the original logic file, so as to be able to closely see what an amazing work you have done…
I got a need for a logic Pro Preset for Opus. Is this available same where?
I would really like to know what kind of MAC you are using. I see a 70 GB RAM load of tools and a PROCESSOR load of only 10 percent. What kind of car is this ? 163 tracks and real-time video capture and not a single artifact in the sound. Please share information about the equipment that you use. I will be very grateful.
Still learning your software.
Are you using a separate Opus player for each different sound(patch)?
How does your Nectar controller work with east/west?
I wanna get into using plugins like this, what do I need?
Any full size keyboards work?
Any adapters? Hubs?
What type of Midi controller are you using in this video?
Very nice arrangement and tutorial. I see you are using 69GB of RAM. What size MAC are you using ro are you running servers? Thank you.
Hi Ryan Is it possible to download the 1 min videos from somewhere to use when reproducing the composition for practise purposes ?
This is right up my street, love nature, got Opus and EW Composer, not very good at composing ha ha.
In case you haven't thought of this, you can download a bunch of free CZcams nature or travel videos. and practice scoring. You can remove the audio easily. My experience has been that scoring to picture is easier than trying to compose something from a melody or part of one from your head, especially if one hasn't a firm idea of what you want. This is a great way to improve as you can often just focus on 30 seconds or so of music to suit a specific segment. Then move on to another segment. Don't overstress if the music doesn't seem to fit 100%. What's important for now is that you get something down in your DAW. Try to do this with an aim of 2-3 minutes of music per day, or as often as you can.
Ryan, what DAW are you using?
Do you find one better than other to use with OPUS?
That's Logic Pro (Apple Garage Band / Logic Pro family)
He’s using Logic
That’s Logic Pro
It i s Logic Pro
Ryan, do you have a template for Logic to share?
