      Bedford Hills Fire Department why? That thing is almost as old as my mother. The ladder is still good. A new fire truck to use is a pierce. They have an Oshkosh Pierce wildland tanker. The thing is cool. The pierce Hawk. Or go with Bulldog.

    Is this a volunteer department?

  • @scottallen8329
    @scottallen8329 Před 5 lety +1

    Probably has been asked before but, why the wide range of numbers for the rigs?

    • @LowHudEmergency
      @LowHudEmergency  Před 5 lety +2

      Here in Westchester County, apparatus is numbered on a county-wide system. The numbers themselves don't really correlate with anything, but there are no two of the same in the county. So Engine 199 belongs to Bedford Hills and no other department can have an Engine 199.

    • @scottallen8329
      @scottallen8329 Před 5 lety +1

      @@LowHudEmergency Similar to most (certainly not all) areas. I was just wondering about the wide range of numbers (ie: some 2-digit, some 3-digit). In our area, departments are assigned a range, ie: Oak Lawn #1 - #30, Evergreen Park #31 - #51, Burbank #200 - #220, Hometown #465 - #475 etcetera. Surrounding areas also use an ending number i.d. such as "2" = ambulance, "3" = engine, "4" = truck etcetera ..... so, 823 - engine, 204 - truck, 6512 - ambulance.

    • @LowHudEmergency
      @LowHudEmergency  Před 5 lety +1

      Yeah so again, the numbers themselves don't really mean anything. Each category (engine, tanker, ladder, etc.) starts at 1 and goes up as high as needed. So those are just the numbers Bedford Hills happens to have. It's just the way it was done a long time ago when they first started utilizing a county-wide system.

    What is the purpose of the pipes which are connected to every engine/rig at the firehouse? I don't think they're here to fill in the gaz tank, so is that for the water tank maybe? I don't think we have such hoses in France... Nice video though!

    • @LowHudEmergency
      @LowHudEmergency  Před 4 lety

      Thank you! Those hoses are part of a ventilation system. They connect to the exhaust pipes on the apparatus and a large fan expels the exhaust out of the building. That way the trucks can run inside without polluting the building.
