3 Good Reasons To Grow A Man Bun & Why They're So Popular

  • Hey guys, welcome back for another hair related video. Today we’re going to be discussing an interesting topic indeed. We’re going to be looking at WHY the man bun is so popular and why it’s not going anywhere any time soon.
Before we start, for free hair growth support visit this link and follow the prompts: manbunsandmane...
I’ll be covering 3 main reasons in this video (And I must say, Number 3 is certainly the most intriguing that I managed to find on the internet) but if however you think there’s more reasons than the ones I mention today, feel free to give your two cents in the comments.
I love having a read of your guys point of view haha.
    Ok, let’s move it.
The first reason as to why I think the man bun is so popular and will pretty much never go out of fashion is because it’s simple and easy to achieve… (provided you can persevere through the awkward stage…)
I mean, coz let’s be real, that’s a f#cken mission and a half and I think just about everyone in this audience will agree with me on that haha.
No but really, the fact the man bun is so quick and simple to achieve was definitely a major selling point for me when considering it in the beginning.
I have psycho ass hair that does whatever it wants and the fact that there's a hairstyle that can solve it and make it look presentable in 2.7 seconds is a pretty good deal.
Especially if you’re a busy guy who does like taking pride in his appearance but just doesn't always have the time, it’s definitely a winner and a solid reason that guys will continue to wear this style.
The second reason the man bun is so popular and isn’t going anywhere is because it’s dynamic.
What I mean by that is it’s got SO many different styles that it’s hard to get bored with it. It can look scruffy, it can look neat, it can be high, it can be low it can be short, it can be halved, it can be worn with braids and it can be full and you can even wear it out depending on the vibe you are going for.
It also works with all different types of fashion, it can be worn with formal wear, casual wear, sex wear, you name it it can work. It’s almost like the style that has no rules and it works with curly hair and it doesn’t matter if it looks messy sometimes lol...
And if you’re someone who values liberation and freedom like me, then the man bun is certainly a style worth considering.
Reason number 3 and the most intriguing of this video, is (drum Roll…….)
    Covering up baldness?!?!?!
Yup, that’s right. Someone posted this interesting article in the Facebook group about this and when I read it I was like what?!?!?!
Btw, if you haven’t yet joined the man buns and manes facebook group you can visit the link in the description and just follow the prompts (wink)
But yeah. I was gobsmacked about this whole man buns covering baldness thing, I couldn’t believe that people really grow man buns to cover up their baldness? I mean, it’s clever but in all honesty,
I’m all about solving problems for good and with everything I’ve learnt about male pattern baldness in all my research this far,
This is a F#cking terrible reason to have a man bun!
It’s literally a temporary bandage for a problem that needs surgery. I’ve stressed this point so frequently about hair loss and if you’re really serious about stopping it in its tracks you need to take proper action as soon as you notice any type of balding.
I actually wanted to question the authenticity and credibility of this article when I first saw it to be honest. They kind of made claims that the man bun had crazy search volumes in search engines which is true,
but they kinda just chucked a few pictures of some guys with pattern baldness that so happen to have man buns and said “Case and point, here’s the proof, 2 guys have done it so it must be the main reason…
Which I think is bullshit but you know.
Each to their own opinion right?
Have an awesome day and I’ll see you next week for another video!

I’m growing out my hair because I’ve never had my hair long before in my 19 years of life. I’m currently at stage 2 and I started with an undercut at about 3 and a half inches on the top and zero on the sides. I’m now at 4 and a half inches on top and an inch on the sides. I regret cutting my hair in March because I had a really cool undercut with 8 inches on top and was able to get it into a perfect man bun, but I listened to my parents and I got it cut😞. You have really inspired me to grow out my hair and I can’t wait to see what my hair will be like in a year from now!

I never had a very short haircut and i thought that at the age of 16 it’s the time for a change. So I said either i cut it and have a short haircut or just grow a man bun. It’s been 10 months since then and i feel like each month while it’s growing it’s looking better and i love it more. I don’t think that I could’ve continued growing it out without your inspiration THANKS THOMAS ❤️

I'm growing out my hair to have long hair, not for the bun. I will of course wear it up in a bun but that's like an essential part of long hair, it's what you gotta do.

I was just tired of my regular hair cut since i was a kit. I started growing my hair before that i could tie it up to a small onion bun. But school didn't allow such a haircut so i had a bit off time with kinda long hair. Now I've had the opportunity to grow my hair for almost 2 years now and I'm loving it. I have it a bit longer than my shoulder and it's very versatile indeed on styling for an occasion.

I got tired of either having to wear hat or put gel in my hair. Growing my hair to be able to put it up in a bun will be more versatile for me.

I'm growing a manbun to prove I life now for my self. I once growth my hair to prove something to someone else, I had a great loyalty and appreciation for this person and it wasn't worth it (it was a deep reason by the time)...after the reason losed it value I cut my hair and started to growing it again to prove and remember me to never repeat that mistake. I don't need really anyone else than my self to validate my decisions or my life, I only need me. I'm now free and my future Manbun is my way to express it.
Oh, and also because it's cool and can give my a lot of hair styles (btw, don't take into account my picture, is of 5 years ago)

I grew my hair out to see the potential of my hair, and to take advantage of having hair before it’s all gone (my dad got bald in the end of his 30s) lol.. not saying that’ll become bald by then but it’s a possibility.. Also I’ve lived my whole life with short hair and needed a change that’d also help me enhance my look as I’m getting older.. hope that makes sense.. anyways, this journey isn’t easy and full of criticism and people not liking it but once the desired look achieved and you know how to style your hair properly, you’ll shut those people’s mouths and actually make them applaud you, eventually.. hang in there you guys it’s a journey worth living..

Another reason I wanted to grow my hair to a full man bun was wanting to experience it before losing my hair to male pattern baldness which is very prevalent in my family. But I’m really glad that I’ve learned, in all my research and binging of this channel, that I can stop hair loss and even reverse it if I deal with it sooner rather than later. So yeah, losing hair is not mandatory. I will not go bald. I’m so glad that technology and medicine has come so far.

So a reason I grew my hair out is because I just hated cutting my hair so much! I have a very odd shaped head and I would always get a 1mm cut basically a bald buzz cut once every week! My mom is a hair stylist so like iv never paid for a hair cut my entire life! Anyways I just got tired of asking for hair cuts... she would always say she likes it bald.. though at school my friends would say I would look great with long hair. So the second I walked across the stage at graduation! (June 9th or 10th I forget! Of 2018) I only got 2 trims till this day. It’s already almost been a full 2 years which is crazy! I don’t wear it in a bun much but down. I have very wavy/ curly hair and I just like it flowing down... yeah also it’s made my face not look so chubby. I am 5’10 and was 280lb which was pretty THICC... Iv lost about 50ish pounds give or take and it complements me very well with my hair type.... my goal is to be under 200... but yeah my hair complements my face well and didn’t make me look as chubby!

I have that weird head shape where the back part sticks out a lot. People used to point it out, until I decided to grow it out and it started to attract compliments about my hair. (had top knot with buzzed sides and God it was awful with my head shape, idk what I was doing.

When there were the hipster man buns 2014 I wanted to have one as well , so I grew my hairs 2014 till summer 2015 and didn't cared that much and it looked horrible as I didn't cut the sides and let it grew very ugly instead of taking care of it 😡 .... then I just cut it and weared the hairs to the side till 2018 . Then I decided to let it grow January 2018 till now , had some trims since now and it is more mental difficult than it was 2014-2015 ah yeah I forgot 2007-2009 I had that anime hair style it seems that my hairs grew faster in the past

I chose to try the man bun since my hair was already getting long from not cutting it because of covid. And so far im enjoying messing with it. Can't do much at the moment but I did the undercut.
As far as the growing to cover baldness, I've always heard that a buzz cut makes it less noticeable. Growing it out makes it more prominent.

Where I live almost all the young guys go for short hairstyles but I wanna stand out and try something new. Also cuz I’ve always felt like short hair doesn’t work for me. Also cuz I like Jon Snow 😁😉

Hi, I love your vids, keep up the great work! I'm a newbie but have liked & subbed to you.
This is the first time I've grown my hair long, I have really crazy thick, corse hair (kinda afro) so find it difficult to do too much with it. During these hotter months, it feels like I have a hot water bottle on my head so I've just been grabbing it all up and doing a top bun but thanks to your vids I have a selection to try out. My hair naturally is just down past my shoulders but when I straighten it it's down to my collarbone.

I'm growing a man bun for 2 reasons
    1) I think it makes anyone look attractive
    2) it makes people tell me to get a haircut which means I can hit them with a "how about no" and make them upset even tho getting a haircut won't make their life better :D
been growing my hair out for 11 months so far and tons of people were upset about it for some reason lmao

Any help to add volume to the back of my head? I have 13.5 months growth and it comes down to below my chin (I've been cutting the bottom/back to let the top catch up), but I have a really flat head, which my hair accentuates, any help?!

Hi Thomas. I was wondering whether u or one of the community could give me some advice. I have been growing my hair for two years now it it’s very long. Majority of the hair especially on top is great quality, however the hair that comes from behind my ears has poor quality which seems to be getting worse. I find this quite annoying as I like half up half down, but the longer parts which come from behind my ears look really disgusting when I do this (normally it’s hidden in a man bun). I am really unsure what the best thing is to do. I am tempted to cut 2-3 inches off once quarantine has lifted as I have not had a haircut since March, but not sure if there is an easier fix. Thanks
