I never understood why this wasn't a bigger hit. It was one of my favorite tracks from that album.

Simply because Richie was the main contributor of the writing... On top of that, despite the fact that Jon has many great sides, he is for sure lacking an important one: the ability to recognize a great song... that was the case with Living on a prayer when Richie had to fight to get it on the album... You can also tell on the song "BURN WITH ME" that never made the final set on any album and is far better than many other songs...
@@fredericdevillard9139 Just looked up Burn With Me. Had never heard it before. I love songs that have relatively simple lyrics on the surface, but lots of depth in the meaning. Can also easily hear that being a hit on the pop charts.
It wasn't released as a single. New Jersey produced five top 10 hits, so they knew what they were doing.
The fact that they still sing this song they created when they were young, even after all these years, makes me so happy as someone who has lived believing in this song.

There were girls on the front row holdings up banners with the complete lyrics from this song. Thats why they performed it. And Jon had to read the words from those boards during the performance 😅 and one of the boards with the words slipped so he couldnt see the words anymore. It was great and hilarious
