Today on The Ranveer Show, we welcome Dr. Samir Parikh. He is a consultant psychiatrist and the Director of the Department of Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences, Fortis Healthcare, with 26 years of expertise. In this podcast, we broke down the topic of mental health at a deeper level.
In this episode, we talked about depression, anxiety, why people feel depressed, and the effect of bullying on a person’s mental health, when you should visit a doctor, why people self-diagnose themselves, and much more. We also discuss ADHD and how it can affect daily life, the impact of bullying on mental health, particularly in the digital age, and the importance of seeking professional help for various mental health conditions.
This was a mental health special episode that, in my opinion, everyone should watch to understand when they should see a doctor and what is the reason behind their prolonged sadness. I hope you will enjoy this conversation and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Did anyone ever hear about psychiatric social worker’s?
15:00 you changed the angle of discussion..your curiosity and analysis is diverting the way of discussion.
I don't think people realize how much strength it takes to pull your own self out of a dark place mentally. So, if you've done that today or any day, I'm proud of you. 🤗✨❣️
Shukriya❤
It takes a lot of time to get out of it. You cant do it one day.
I feel high when i do some good or needful help to people who are related to me
Or even to strangers.
These services may be big or small..
I feel the same when i study and learn some new things or gain some knowledge.
I am 71 now and i have realised that any intoxicating substance is needed not to experience a high.
❤
Thankyou...I have bipolar...
Depression feels like a black hole something pulling you down and makes you cry for no reason. It literally took me almost a year to get out of. I am so glad this podcast is being made. Much needed for the society
I was diagnosed with depression 3 yrs ago... folks now use this term so casually.. i hope no one ever goes through this..❤ ...
Absolutely right... I am going through anxiety and depression. Have visited a psychiatrist and now taking medicine. I want to come out of it. No one knows what it feels like...

Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.
Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable s0urce here in Australia. Really need!
Yes, blizmyco. I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
Is he on instagram?
Yes he is. >>>>blizmyco
Microdosing helped me get out of the pit of my worst depressive episode, a three year long episode, enough to start working on my mental health.
I am suffering from anxiety and depression and I was literally in tears when doc was talking about what we feel and how people dont understand what we go through. I have lots of physical problems.Had few surgeries but nothing is as painful and dark as mental illness.Hope nobody ever goes through it.@Ranveer-Thanks for taking this topic. Also this episode was more towards self diagnosing,substance,etc..More towards exploiting mental health terms..It would be good if you can let doctor talk more about us.What a patient goes through, out struggles etc which will help others to understand our problem better.
We keep hearing comments like everyone has depression, its all in the mind ,etc which hurts most.
I suffered from anxiety and panic attacks for 6 months and let me tell you it was the toughest experience that I had to undergo in my life. Trust me I consider myself very strong mentally and despite that i struggled every day. Also, I was living in a new city alone and that made it worse. By God's grace, I was able to come out of it, but i would always remember that phase as the darkest phase in my life! 😢
How did you get out of it ?? Like what techniques did you use ? Pls do share as even I'm suffering through some sort of anxiety and though I feel I'm coming out of it now, but I always fear what if I get back into it and that makes me anxious...so pls share how did you get out of it ??

I am a student of psychology and have done a couple of online internships from fortis mental health and I admire Dr. Samir Parikh's wisdom
Thank you Ranveer bhaiya for bringing him and thank you Dr. Samir Parikh for inspiring us
As a fellow psychiatrist, I was very happy to see the podcast. Covered a range of topics from anxiety/depression to adult ADHD and cannabis addiction. These are so relevant to the youth today. You surely understand the pulse of the new generation. Mental health is such a large and often misunderstood field that more such episodes would really help to reduce the barriers/misconceptions in seeking help.
Hey there..
I am 18 and just started my college and I have facing many problems in my day to day life for 2 years because of adhd , I was a very good student till my 10th std and then in my 11 and 12 grade I started failing my exams , I try very hard to focus but I am not able to do it
I cannot afford medication or therapy and my parents also will not take me seriously
Do you have some suggestions that I can do to improve this condition that could help me pls

Staying strictly to one aspect of spirituality and always remembering yourself every hour in your life that you are one with the universe will definitely help you out.
Can't wait to dive in. I know already that this episode is gonna be AMAZING. Dr. Samir Parikh is remarkable at what he does. I was truly lucky I got to attend a workshop conducted by him at Fortis, almost six years back now, in eighth grade and until now, I haven't been able to forget that experience of how he encouraged us to brainstorm and think about doing our bit for the environment. Him talking about the Global Pacific Garbage Patch (GPGP) that day is something that has stuck with me and I'd bet I still even have the carbon footprint activity he engaged the participants in alongside Ms. Divya. Seeing his face on the thumbnail instantly brought all of those memories back. ABSOLUTELY SUPERB TO SEE HIM ON TRS! ❤ ALL THE BIOLOGY PODCASTS ARE MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITES!
A much needed podcast..i hope people will understand mental illness and not take it lightly anymore
My mother was suffering from hearing voices in her mind, depression and anxiety since 2010 but got diagnosed for the first time in 2013 when the condition was critical, in 2014 she lost her husband and became the sole bread earner of the family, we struggled to make ends meet but somehow she kept pushing herself for her kids, during the end of 2019 things became very nasty and she was again diagnosed in 2020 and had to live through it through the pandemic, it was so horrible a situation that only she knows, today is the day after my 19th birthday and I can't cry but say she is again going back down the same spiral of things, she woke me up and said "beta doctor ke le chal chakkar aa rah hai", probably I am most heart broken and feared now in my life, the only thing I wish from god is the good health of my mother, I hope she fights her way out of this, she will.
Thanks Ranveer for this episode, I was looking for something that would make me feel empathetic towards my mother.
I’m very sorry you and your mother are going through so much. Sending her so much love and healing. Please take care of yourself as well, do things that make you happy so you can help her as well. Wishing her good health and happiness!

This is a much needed conversation. There are millions suffering from mental illness and most are not able to get the help they need. Our society is doomed if something is not done. God help us.
I was suffering from pcods due to which there is always fluctuation on my hormones level. It leads me always being sadness, depressed and mentally unwell.
After trying for so much of medical treatment for pcods, it couldn't help for longer time instead it got more worsen.
As I started changing my lifestyle , my diet , my sleeping pattern and more importantly as i started doing meditation and gratitude morning and evening it helped me so much. I am so much relief and relaxed now.
So , i recommend everyone to do deep breathing and gratitude meditation at least for 10-15min each day. It is one of the key medication for upliftment of mental health.❤😊
That is so true it works like a miracle
Hi my sister is suffering from PCOD and she is getting depressed for 3 to 9 days in a month or two month. Is that same happened to you ?
Thank you to Dr Sameer! 2008 it was his diagnosis and his support for a year ! I came out of that horrendous experience of bipolar disorder! He’s the best!
I am so inspired by Dr Samir Parikh!! Thank you for bringing him on the show. ❤
Most people don't even know what depression feels like its not just sadness I've gone through it and had 15-20 symptoms
I hope you are doing well now brother sending you lots of love and prayers. 🌺💐🌸
I am so glad that someone is talking about the exact scenario about mental illness , being diagnosed professionally I had faced a lot of hurdles from society and everyone would come and just say ki you are doing it purposefully to gain attention
And the main struggle was to face the fear that comes with such diagnosis because there is no authentic information on it ....
And facing everything alone because nobody would understand what I was going through ...
But I am glad that I am strong , I stood strong and believed on my doctor instead of society , I faced everything and I got my life back
This video is definately going to help many people facing this issue who are diagnosed professionally!
I was diagnose with schizophrenia for about 3 month now. Dealing with mental health is hard but do able. I can't control the thought inside my mind not only that I keep hearing many voice at once. It was making me go mad even to the point I no longer in control of myself. Now with God help I can control my symptoms and I am doing fine. So don't lose hope , keep fighting, put smile on your face and go on with your life. You got this ❤❤❤
God bless you.. thru this podcast … you have created so much psycho education and awareness regarding mental health … practicing as a psychologist for last 25 years… l still feel there is so much to do for destigmatizing mental issues 🙏🏻

Wonderful episode. One more thing I have heard even from many people including few doctors even in social media the upsurge of wifi towers in the cities have led to more psychiatric and psychological problems than earlier days. Wifi towers not only affect physically but even brain related issues. How true that is God knows.
You definitely have my sub. This content is next level. For me Unimantic was the turning point. Please keep doing what you do and keep being you, love it
Welcome aboard
Truest thing sir said. Not enough talks, not enough focus, not enough funding, given till date to mental illness by institutions and there are just blabbers everywhere and everyone is a self acclaimed expert. With the worsening situation of mental illness I hope things changes sooner for the better.
Bring a very kind person, and his insight will help lots for psychotherapy.
Love love love the podcast. It's quite relatable to the present age, people we come across.
Valuable and very useful info because I trust Ranveer's sources and the knowledge imparted through them. 💟🌷
I work with some of the best coaches who are also biohackers in the world in California. His clients go through mental depression, suicidal thoughts but it all comes down to your irregular hormones, vitamins, etc. if you’re thinking you’re depressed, first go to get your blood tested and improve your levels. Focus on exercise, sleep and a clean, healthy protein rich diet. I guarantee you’re not going to be depressed again.
This is a wrong explanation. You cannot repress the actuality of their causes. You aren't in someone else's body. That's what this doctor has addressed. All over internet are some crummy advices for the same. Go to a mental health practitioner, you'll really know the roots
Thanks brother for this podcast. Working as a psych nurse in Melbourne i can tell you Dr parikh has explained it really well. Much needed discussion. Thanks again for having this conversation 🙏
Thanks for bringing Dr. Parikh, he is great
I see few depressants blaming people for not understanding what they go through. Actually they don't understand coz those depressed people never explained what they actually go through. And it's no one's fault. U get it only when you go through it. So be kind to everyone.
The only thing that got me out of depression is 1) Yoga 2) compassion key 3) sound healing

This podcast addresses a crucial and timely issue "Mental Health" with great insight. I encourage millions to watch it and become aware of their mental health status, diagnosis methods, and the necessary counseling support. Neglecting these issues can lead to severe health conditions and ultimately, death. To the youth, please recognize symptoms early and seek help for a healthier, happier life. Thank you for this informative podcast. Really loved the way the Biochemistry part of it was explained by the doc. I am particularly interested in learning about the wonder biochemicals : the neurotransmitters which are influencing the mind to think in a certain way. I am a keen learner of clinical psychology and many facets of this interests me to know in depth about how a particular neurotransmitter stimulus generates a behavioral response in human brain 🧠. This subject really fascinates me intensely. Also one of my best friends in college had the same issue since his adolescence, which his parents were unable to identify during his schooling.Hence parents of a child will have to identify these symptoms in their wards from school days itself to ensure the child turns out to be a mentally fit individual. It is important because mentally fit individuals will never go around destroying other human beings.
Thank you for bringing this topic 🙏 was very helpful
