I am fortunate to have worked on the Sydney Metro City and continue to work on Southwest. Seeing it come to live stage by stage has been fantastic and its amazing we get to enjoy it as of today!
Loving the new metro service! Do you know if there has been any talk on the inside about the Metro possibly extending to the eastern suburbs and northern beaches in the distant future? It’s an excellent system, it would be great to see it service all areas of Sydney in the future, like the Subway and the Tube do for NYC and London.
Thankyou Rory for taking the time to show us the new Metro. As a girl who grew up in Chatswood and hates the uglification of the suburb I can see that the new line will make travelling around Sydney easier for commuters and hopefully ease traffic congestion. After seeing this will make a effort to try soon .
Rory I really want to thank you for creating this video of the new Sydney Metro line. I live in Sydney and I now have a better understanding of the Sydney Metro line and you always describe your videos so well for those of us such as myself who have no vision. thank you for such an awesome description and a fantastic video.
I'm glad Sydney inaugurates its first metro line. When I visited Australia I travelled on the suburban trains only. So now, Sydney is the third city in southern hemisphere with automated driverless metro after São Paulo, Brazil (line 4) and Santiago, Chile (lines 3 and 6). Greetings from Chile.
I watched them making it for so many years in Chatswood, but then moved to the beaches, so I wouldn't have got to see this without you. Thanks so much, Rory!
Wow thanks Rory, I'd wondered how this service worked when I was in Sydney a month ago, Central is absolutely huge now and takes some navigating allow extra time, the other stations look amazing so different from previous ones, dark, smelly and dingy and I really like the safer new platforms...can't wait to be the one peering through the front & back windows and rocketing under the harbour...
0:01 MY GOD HOW HIGH IS THAT APARTMENT!?! Also it’s cool that central used platforms 26 and 27 for the metro despite it was abandoned for almost 80 years I think
Cool view from the place in Chatswood (assume Meriton Suites?) Note that Central 26/27 is an entirely new platform. The prior 26/27 built in the 60/70s which sit above the T4 24/25 are now abandoned and used as part of HVAC and back of house systems.
As a Sydneysider I find this VERY interesting! Can hardly wait to ride! I love that you actually took the time to get off at each station! So weird seeing platform screen doors in front of those old buildings at Sydenham though.
Great video Rory! This is very well put together, one of the best I've seen, and even more impressive when you filmed it and published all on the same day.
I know we all have our gripes about Sydney but bloody hell we have a terrific public transport system. It's clean, efficient, updated, modern and user friendly. This new addition to the network is fabulous - thanks for the update!
Hi Rory, thanks for sharing his excellent video. It is truly amazing how much Sydney has changed, since I was living there prior to mid 1981. My family and did spend a short time in Sydney in early 2000, though back then, the only light rail running was Central to Wentworth Park and the Metro had not even been thought of. Prior to moving to Melbourne in 1981, I used to live at Marrickville on the Bankstown line, which will now soon be also converted to Metro. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Congratulations on a great video! Really succinct, easy to follow and held my interest the entire video. I have watched a few different videos about the Metro and I learned more from your vlog than the others.
Love the level of detail you shared with this video Rory. Can't wait to give the new driverless train a go. This is definitely a massive project for Sydney.
Very informative video Rory and I appreciate the effort you put in. I really like how accessible the Metro trains are for people in wheelchairs/scooters etc.
I travelled on the MRT in Taiwan in 2019 and was very impressed after years of travelling on the Sydney and Brisbane rail networks. The new metro line seems be identical to the MRT so this is a massive step forward for Sydney!
victoria is doing a similar update but out system already seem outdated now. not to mention one of our stations was built 2m short to accommodate future trains haha
Sydney Metro Stage 2 Grand Opening that carried Swifties, Rail Enthusiasts, School Students, Government MPs, News Crews and Vloggers. Eventually extended to Bankstown.
Syd Metro is in a class of its own regarding the tunnel. I can’t see Melbourne being completed for a long time yet. But I’m sure it will be fantastic once the airport is connected. I would rate Brisbane ahead of Melbourne. 😊
@@harrygoldun5779 Harry, is that all you've got? The Metro trains are practically the same flaming size. Best of both worlds, what the hell are you talking about? I wonder why in some countries public transport is taking cared of so smoothly that in a short period of time society benefits from its improvement, while in continental Brazil states can't even agree the country needs high-speed trains criscrossing the whole country if it wants to become minimally competitive...
I wish we had daring railway projects here in Adelaide, instead all we had was an old spur line reopened, and still waiting on 2 major lines to be electrified
Adelaide was a leader in the O Bahn system that has operated for almost 40 years. It is difficult to justify expenditure of the amounts of the Metro in smaller populations.
@@nswtrains3153 No, but they can at least electrify and make improvements, like what is happening in Perth, a similar sized city. Instead of refurbishing old DMU's
