I absolutely love the idea of just a house tour for an episode!!! It ties into my obsession with interior design that I found to be a natural evolution after having worked in fashion. Skye's home was beautiful, very unpretentious but more welcoming and warm. Loved it:))). xxJ

I’m loving the yellow! SO happy to see the old fashioned Euro kitchen style continuing its trend. Open shelves, no more traditional uppers…..it’s so beautiful and so much more functional, really!
It's interesting how the younger generation Brits often seem to turn to the prints and colors of their Grandmothers generation these days. Even collections of transferware on display and lots of old fashioned patterns with roses etc. It's something you very rarely see in a younger persons home in Scandinavia. Like the choice of sitting room furniture. Very well put together, the English are world class experts att mixing patterns and prints of home textiles and wallpaper in harmonious and very personal ways. I'm also a fan of yellow for any room you want to feel sunny regardless of the weather! It really does lift the spirit and bring some happy energy to a space!
She is soft and traditional and her home embodies that spirit.

I really love the kitchen, it's gorgeous. I always think sunshiney yellow is the perfect colour for a kitchen. I'm not a fan of endless clashing prints on walls and everywhere else, it's too busy for me, but I think it's been beautifully put together, and the house is just lovely :)

Really lovely home, especially the kitchen. I also have an open pantry (basically a bookcase with lots of very big glass jars with white lids) and it is so practical! You instantly see what you've got and it's so easy to pick up what you need when baking, looking for pasta or rice etc and also when making a shopping list. I can't stand the ugly packaging so everything goes into jars, keeps it fresher too.
There is also a tour of Skye's flat in Venice which is quite spectacular.

Great house tour even though it is really not my style but it's lovely to see something that isn't bare and minimalist.
No wardrobes in the bedroom so I am assuming there is a dressing room, which would have been nice to see along with the bathroom.

You can put labels on the top of your jars. Some powders and spices look very similar in jars and it is not always easy to tell from the taste.

I love her dress.
Although her style isn't entirely in line with mine, what I most appreciate and instantly noticed about Skye is one word: harmony. She is a MASTER of harmonious, gentle design and decor yet there's character and enticement. Everything matches, never jars or challenges and this room in particular has a very dreamy, ultra-relaxed, soothing (almost lazy) quality to it. An exceptional talent is needed to achieve this sort of understated yet intelligent, characterful atmosphere; a lesser mortal would turn it into awful 'twee' cottage core or worse, and so "harmonious" becomes bland...mono-Hoppen. I can't think of anything more ghastly. The ugliest home I've ever seen is Gizelle's from The Real Housewives of Potomac's latest season. Holy smokes-- think of a Hungarian dental clinic crossed with a well-maintained Irish Traveller's home and a shopping mall style 'furniture outlet'. Each to their own. Ms McAlpine has an in-born flair, you can SEE her erudition in her decor and design. I bet she has a large collection of stunningly illustrated, vintage, antique and obscure European folk tale story books. Can't think of better inspiration for colour palettes and moods. 😃

I'm always amazed when I see homes like this that the husband is game for what I consider a more feminine look - lots of floral prints, use of pink, the tole, etc. None of the men in my life would ever have gone for this. Clearly, I need to change it up! 😄

My husband let me do it too. He says to make a home is a woman thing and he loves it. He says if he was living alone it would be different

Having googled Skye thou o was surprised to learn she is a daughter of Lord McAlpine. He’s language, full of ‘likes’, ‘kindas’ and ‘sortas’ does not reflect the best quality of education she most probably had access to growing up. A real shame. Proper English is so beautiful…
