You are more beautiful than the most lovely rose
      And more sweet than honey
      and more precious than gold
You are more precious than everything that exists in this world
A beauty queen whom I never ever seen any one as beautiful as her-you-before
and may never ever in my whole entire life will see-anyone as beautiful as her, meaning you-at all
With her unique amazing beauty she made me as her slave
But as a king I always should be
King of her heart forever I want to be
Iam her castle and her knight
and the throne on which she shall always be
I have her in my heart dwelling in it & forever in it she shall always be
A beautiful glowing face she got like a lovely full moon
A wonderful sexy body and a magical smile
A soothing calm voice and a lovely silky hair
wide attractive eyes and very soft cheeks
very white teeth and very nice breath
Her lips are like red rubies or like tasty red berries
The infant cries longing for her breast
and I myself love her nipples too
She got lovely cheeks above and lovely cheeks below
And a very kind heart and a very generous hand
Seeing her is a cure for the ill & a joy for the heart and soul
I am addicted to her forever and she is forever addicted to only me
She shows her beauty to no one but me
And she got a very creative smart wise brain and a big white heart
and she never envies any one at all and never have any jealousy
She is always & forever grateful to her lord even if bounties became little not many
& she always loves God regardless of the calamities he tests her with
And is forever strong in faith and forever fears her lord even if no one else see
& she try to do different types of good deeds for the sake of God, while not expecting anything from humans in return
& She refrain from all evil acts and ill thoughts and from all types of sin
& she loves all the messengers of God & their true successors too with sincere true love and have loyalty to God and for them too
She loves all the messengers of God and those who represent them after they are dead, with true love, and hates all those who have usurped their rights, even if they were righteous before
She makes no partners never ever with God
and asks everything only from him
And believes he does not have any son or daughter
      nor was he begotten/born
And in public she covers her hair because she only show her beauty to her husband and not to any other male
So she dresses like a nun and
like her there is no one/non
Who is my unique lovely queen
can you now guess? Yes lovely princess my lovely queen is you
      She loves being a muslim
her aim is always pleasing God
So she worships her lord and to all people she is soo kind
She only fall in love with her husband not with any other male
and she is too sweet and self dependent and loving and caring and patient and forever strong ..

Your story about not remembering the word "president" in Korean, and instead saying "The CEO of the country" is very important for language learners. It is called circumlocution. You cannot get stuck on a word. You just have to find another way to say it. If you don't know the word for car, you can say "Mercedes" or "thing that goes fast on the road", or whatever. But do not get stuck. This is crucial for language learners because they will get stuck and it will ruin their attempt to speak the language.

    • @kayleighlevitt2741
      @kayleighlevitt2741 Před 10 měsíci +1

what are methods to recover from circumlocution if it does happen?

    • @ronlugbill1400
      @ronlugbill1400 Před 10 měsíci +26

@kayleighlevitt2741 write a word or a sentence on a sheet of paper. Find as many ways as you can to say the same thing. Opposites are often a good choice. Another way to say "smart" is "not stupid". Or to describe it. It's an animal that sometimes lives in a house. Has a tail. Makes a noise. Etc.
Do not get stuck, thinking of what is that word. Find another way to say it. Because it will take 10 years to know every word in a foreign language. You need to be able to function with a limited active vocabulary for now.

in my teaching, i use cards. 1 word on 1 card. 2 students work together. one takes a card and tries to explain the word on the card without using the word or parts of the word until the partner guesses the word. it s a 4 in 1 learning: 1. they repeat vocabulary. 2. they train speaking. 3. they train listening. 4. they train grammar😊

Honestly, this is almost exactly how I learned English... Only there was no Internet back then, no smartphones, no Google Translate. So I did it offline. With a dictionary. Started translating songs - guessing the spelling from hearing, then started watching movies - pausing after every sentence and translating in the same manner. It'd take me up to 3 days to watch a single picture. But now, 20 years later, I still remember almost every quote from my favourite ones! Winning all trivia drinking contests since 1999. Also, there was a time when movies were available online but without captions and guess who was very good at making those. One of my better jobs - was literally paid to watch blockbusters pre-release.

I play video games in French because it forces me to understand in order to play the game. If I'm confused or don't understand something I can talk to a character again or look at the pause menu to see my objectives. I think it's a really good way of learning.
I tend to watch movies in full, but maybe I will try watching just a single scene after watching this video.

I did 4 years of high School German. I was amazed to find the language Educational films we used (black and White made in the late 1950's) still available on the youTube. The series is called "Guten Tag." If you know some German you will quickly get bored of it but if you are a beginner they are excellent. The episodes are about 15 mins long. Never thought I'd use it again but ended up getting a job in Germany in a German speaking only workplace (they were very patient!) Learning another language opens so many doors.

I think that we shouldn't undervalue watching basic children's shows. If you can find a dub in your target language, it offers you a free pass to re-experience a piece of your childhood with fresh eyes. It especially helps if you pick a show where the characters talk directly to the audience a lot. For instance, Pistas de Blue, the spanish dub of Blue's Clues. Or, on Disney+ I started watching Bear in the Big Blue House when I go to bed, which has been fun and relaxing. Love your channel btw, your comprehensible input videos are great.
note: the only problem with dubs is you won't pic up on mouth movements or they could be distracting, but that's not really an issue with a puppet show like Bear in the Big Blue House

I love how you let your Spanish accent shine through. Some online language coaches and teachers suppress their native accent actively, causing them to sound strange even though they're proficient in English. It's so much more natural sounding when your native accent is still there with the what a person has acquired of the target language accent.

I agree. Next to living in the country of the target language, this is the best way (after achieving some proficiency). I would also recommend audiobooks--not only by repeatedly listening to the book chapter by chapter, but by, yes, copying the text by hand, word for word, which I continue to do till this day. But once you achieve advanced mastery, this copy-writing is no longer necessary; just listening should suffice. Frequency dictionaries are also useful. I have one all-time favorite book that I've copied, word for word, in three different languages. Language acquisition is just a life-time effort. Like staying in shape. Y, a propósito, sos muy linda.

I've been watching Spanish language movies on Netflix to try to improve my comprehension skills (Spanish language movies tend to be dreadfully cheesy, but that's neither here nor there...) and the trick I hit on was to change the speed to .75 of the normal speed. It's barely noticeable in terms of enjoying the movie, but it makes a HUGE difference in terms of being able to understand what is being said. Of course, they speak proper Spanish in movies (albeit it's usually South American Spanish, with all those ustedes and carros...), whereas I live in Granada, where they speak their own version of Spanish, which seems to be based on the principle that consonants - like car indicators - are superfluous and must never be used.

Visual cues are extremely important to learn a language, sensory stimulation is the reason you learn faster by living in a place the language is spoken, as opposed of just reading textbooks or glossaries.
That is how babies obtain their mother language, they don't even learn it, they just naturally obtain and absorb it, with inputs from the environment around them, association of visual cues with sounds (that they eventually form words)

I learned English watching tv, American movies and sitcoms, they were titled/translated below in my language…
I hear what it being said, i read what it means right away…
I never took a single class of spelling, writing and talking because i was just a kid and learned different language in my school…
I was young then so it was easy to remember it fast… My understanding of English is logically much better than my spelling or speaking, but i was very young at the time so it was much easier to learn…

While I 100% agree, movies with their narratives (especially if already watched in your NL) are often much easier to understand. I find that right now in Japanese I can understand most animes and movies without too much problem (will miss some specifics but will be able to follow what's happening) but then will have to put my 100% concentration to follow a YT video. As a result, anime relaxes me and CZcams tires me.

Thank you Laura I agree with everything you've said except for this part of "analyzing" because as you know when using comprehensible input all we want to do is to learn the language subconsciously and by "analyzing" tht will turn into learning consciousply
In my opinion as a language leaner you need to be a bit patient at the beginning and watch some boring kids shows as I did learning Spanish and English, I've watched Peppa pig , callo ,bluey , Pocoyó and others and after watching for a sufficient time I'm now able to understand movies and tv shows for natives more than the natives themselves 😊
    I'm just kidding 😂

The best way to actually learn something from movies or shows is to do it later. Let me explain basically I’m learning the general grammar and knowing how to form them then you go ahead with movies. Because what the movie does is improve your language because the way the people talk with conversations you naturally pick up but as a starter up it’s like listening to gibberish. 😊
