  • The Asics Novablast 4 and New Balance Rebel v4 take a different approach to delivering a versatile ride for daily training. The Novablast 4 is a max-cushioned shoe with a big stack of comfortable foam and a rocker, while the Rebel v4 is a lightweight, relatively low-stack shoe with a bouncy PEBA/EVA foam in the midsole. We like both shoes, but which should you get? Tom, Mike and Nick deliver their verdict here.

    A suggestion for you guys. In principle, a review can be more relevant for a runner if the reviewer shares some aspects with the runner. Eg, if you run at 3 min/km and I run at 7 min/km, maybe we perceive from different perspectives a shoe.
    I would put at the beginning in the videos a small profile for each runner. Maybe 3 secs: name, age, weight, pbs, foot width. Those might help runners better relate to a particular reviewer's perspective

      Yeah, I think this is a great idea. Especially for expansion and growth of the channel. You want to do a little tiny intro that's not terrible to sit through for existing fans that have subscribed to the channel, but is informative to new people.

      Makes sense. For example, when they say "Pickup the pace", for them it may mean going up to 3min per km, while for most people, picking up the pace may mean going up to 4:30/05:00min per km. Or when they say "a Nice and easy Pace", what is an easy pace for them? It most likely is much faster than my easy pace.

    I couldn't wait for this comparison, so i picked up a pair of each. So far I prefer the Rebel v4 as it fits my wide feet so much better, which makes them supremely comfortable. That being said, I am really enjoying the Novablast 4, so I don't regret buying both.

      I live in tropical country so it's a concern of mine if the upper is quite thick as it can be hot

    Cheers, gents, Needed an alternative to the superblast after Asics UK have let me down, took my money but never delivered then cancelled my order, appaling with customer service also!! Think i need to look at a different brand so NB is on my radar. ordered a Rebel V4 for my non-plated more speedy interval efforts, speed 3 has worn out and that I find a little too soft, and looking to transition to lower drops, the 8mm on the speed felt more like 12+. Thanks again gents 😁

    Love a Run Testers video! No interest in the Novablast, but I do love the New Balance, nice width, not quite as long as an Asics shoe for me and the foam is very nice under foot at all paces.

    • @trevernapier7206

      Hyperion Max is MUCH less compliant/feels MUCH firmer. I run in both and like both - probably because I don't want every shoe to feel the same underfoot.

    Just ordered another pair of Novablast V3. before they are gone for good, since I like the better pace range compared to what people are saying about the V4. And the V3 eats up miles like crazy, and is especially good at long runs with MP/HMP injections. I still have a working pair of Rebel V2's, but really seems like they are a completely different beast compared to the V4, but I've come to the conclusion that New Balance shoes just aren't for me.

    The Rebel V4 is far better than the Novablast v4 - I have both shoes and am loving the rebel v4 a lot more, lighter, more squishy and responsive, maybe for a heavier runner the Nova would be better with a firmer foam, I weigh 66kgs. Sizing I went up a full size to a UK9 I found the UK8 was to short and my toes were touching the front of the shoe just standing in them, half size would have been to small also. I have had no heel rub in the rebel

    I have a pair of Novablast 4, but don't like them as much as the Novablast 3. I also have a pair of Rebel v3, but reserve them for speedwork. I don't really like using them for long runs. I wonder how the Rebel v4 would be for 12-20 mile runs.

    • @Anatoly_Tsvetkov
      @Anatoly_Tsvetkov Před 2 měsíci +6

      After ~300km (~186 miles) midsole on my pair of the rebel v4 degraded so much, so they have no springiness feeling in them anymore and degradation of the foam is very noticeable, they became very dull, and the problem is the most reviewers don't have that much mileage on shoes they are reviewing, same situation with on cloud surfer and on cloud monster, they feels great out of a box but after ~200km you cant feel that midsole anymore, just dull peace of rubber.

    • @radoslavstoev4550
      @radoslavstoev4550 Před 2 měsíci

      Had a similar experience with Hoka Mach 5. Felt fantastic out of the box, very nimble and bouncy, but after a 100 miles they died. I am 200lbs which probably helps, but when I pay 150 dollars for a shoe, I expect a little bit more durability. I also have the Novablast 3 and they still have some life in the midsole even after 200 miles.(Not the biggest fan of the shoe however, because the geometry is pretty flat and I tend to slap the ground with the forefoot). @@Anatoly_Tsvetkov
