My fav budget friendly and widely available Vegan Cheddar is Daiya Mature Cheddar Block Cheese. It is excellent in a grilled cheese and even fooled an omnivore. In Canada you can find it at NoFrills, Loblaws & Walmart.
I love Violife, there's a gorgeous Violife Greek style cheese which is gorgeous..
My absolute favourite favourite for a cheese board or special occasion is the Nutcrafter Creamery Vegan Cheese Alternatives... AMAZING

The best vegan cheese I've ever had was "No-Muh", which is a Swiss brand I could buy back home in Australia. You can't buy it in the US for some reason, but I would legit replace normal cheese with that it was the best by far and craps over all these cheeses. I miss it so much *sigh*.
