I pulled this up meaning to look it up for nostalgia, but I started crying out of nowhere listening to it; Texas is dealing with the fallout of energy/water failure after the deep freeze, and while I was super fortunate to only have lost water/heat for a few days, it was some of the most stressful days of my life. Lets not forget what's usually the objective of using ones talent (singing in this case): making money. Sure, when they start, things are usually quite unique. But overtime everyone evolves to meet current trends in the industry. If they didn't, they risk going no further or at least slowing progress. I suppose it's that evolution that eventually makes everyone mainstream in some point in time or another lol. But then again, what's mainstream is subjective in most cases.
warren010h I hate to say it, I wish I could believe music artists should always try to be unique and special but you're right. At the end of the day, money governs us all. I've heard a lot of mainstream pop music, they all sound THE SAME. I guess I'm just expressing that I hate when unique bands I like, decide to be in it for primarily the money, instead of primarily the music. Not saying they probably don't still like their own music, but it irks me when they really take that route to be a bit more generic. A bit more to tend to "the masses". A song can be about partying and having fun and all that common shit but then there's that catchyness that needs to "make up" for it. That's what I don't find in the mainstream pop music. No diversity, just generic. Call me opinionated, but that's just how I feel. But hey, I'm not a complete hater either. 15% of the music I like is mainstream. I have an open mind about it still. Some are quite catchy.

Lets not forget what's usually the objective of using ones talent (singing in this case): making money. Sure, when they start, things are usually quite unique. But overtime everyone evolves to meet current trends in the industry. If they didn't, they risk going no further or at least slowing progress. I suppose it's that evolution that eventually makes everyone mainstream in some point in time or another lol. But then again, what's mainstream is subjective in most cases.
warren010h I hate to say it, I wish I could believe music artists should always try to be unique and special but you're right. At the end of the day, money governs us all. I've heard a lot of mainstream pop music, they all sound THE SAME. I guess I'm just expressing that I hate when unique bands I like, decide to be in it for primarily the money, instead of primarily the music. Not saying they probably don't still like their own music, but it irks me when they really take that route to be a bit more generic. A bit more to tend to "the masses". A song can be about partying and having fun and all that common shit but then there's that catchyness that needs to "make up" for it. That's what I don't find in the mainstream pop music. No diversity, just generic. Call me opinionated, but that's just how I feel. But hey, I'm not a complete hater either. 15% of the music I like is mainstream. I have an open mind about it still. Some are quite catchy.

Yes i can see why Kerli says (in a nice way of course) about HOLLYWOOD and it's BULLSHIT, that she was drained completely and LA suck the life out of her trying to mold her into sex kitten, like they did to Britney and all the rest of the maidens... Good for her that she walked away and risked her path, to produce, direct and make her own next album on her terms what she wanted. I don't think she will be back to big demon producers in the US music business, but keep on being in the spot light. Hopefully a lot of younger women her age will follow.

After drastically changing her sound, I'm guessing a lot of people were sort of confused, and it's not that they didn't necessarily like her style anymore, it's just that her old music was so particular that something new wasn't what they expected/wanted. Regardless, Tea Party was released like 2 years before this song, and it was from the Alice In Wonderland soundtrack, so she had a Disney endorsement.
