Whenever you are having a bad day just listen from minute 6 to 12. I have listened to that portion about 40 times now and Will's little nervous laugh when Bateman says , " Who the fuck is that?" and "That's not helpful " is absolutely priceless!!

Dear Smartless can you please, please interview Thomas Haden Church who starred with Mathew in Killer Joe and in Divorce. He is so hilarious and interesting. I think you 4 would be a great fit. I doubt that Jason Bateman will read this, but I just wanted to say that he has such a gift for drawing people into a story. I believe he has a very cinematic mind and honestly his directorial career I hope Ozark will be just the beginning. Much love to you Mr. Bateman.

But more than that, I LOVE that he's highlighting the need for mental health in our school districts, and the federal funding available to them!!!! Yes. 1000%. This is critical/ foundational support needed for the majority of our kids who are navigating an ever-evolving environment where today's reality and authentic social relationships are challenged. This toll on their mental health is a huge factor in their educational performance and outcomes. Soooo glad this was highlighted. Much love, cheers 💕😊
20:00 I have three daughters and with regard to lying and trust, I came up with the concept (maybe others have as well) of the "Tree of Trust". If you do something to lose trust with someone (lie, talk behind their back, etc.), you've effectively chopped down the Tree of Trust that you've grown with them to that point. The tree usually grows back but depending on how hard it was cut down or how often it's been cut and had to grow back in the past, it will, over time, take longer and longer to grow...potentially getting to the point where it never will grow back.
This seems to resonate with them. Although it happens far and few between now, seeing their reaction (sadness, disappointment, realization) after letting them know they "just cut down our Tree of Trust" is all I need to see to know that it hits home for them.
Sharing in the event any other parents might find the concept useful.

Has Jason ever talked about his character on Silver Spoons outshining Ricky Schroder's character and that was the reason Jason was written off the show? I remember reading something about Schroder getting into a fight with another young actor in the cafeteria at the studio. I wonder if it was Jason. Also, if you people have never seen "It's Your Move", find it and watch it. It was an awesome show but sadly did not last long thanks to idiots who thought the antics Jason's character got into, would influence their kids to do bad things so they wrote the producers and complained.

Anyway.... medical marijuana is a real thing. Now I know this because I've been a caregiver for dying relatives. 2 to be precise. THC and CBD eased countless hours of suffering. Even for a lady born right at the beginning of the Great Depression. Who drank "for the flavor" a few times a year. It helped her eat (narrowing esophagus) as she died. And helped her laugh and....be less anxious.
Have you heard that real legit doctors prescribe Marijuana for a wide range of ailments both physical and emotional?
Yeah, yeah...I'll shut up and get off my soapbox. But seriously, you guys are the best. And you 3 lovingly busting each other's chops is way up there on the list of things to love about Smartless.
A question: Should a person with personal medical need for a medication be hassled and outed regularly for just trying to get through their day and perform well? Being a top performer as we age out es muy importante, no?

I just don't think Jason is always in on the joke sometimes. He kinda has that high pitched yelping quality to his otherwise mellifluous voice when you drop one of your comedic ambushes.
Now being on the sensitive side myself, it's entirely possible I'm imagining the whole thing. Prolly not though. I yelp like a wounded Spaniard too when a beloved compadre lays a zinger on me sometimes so I'm probably whining accurately.
That said...you're exquisitely entertaining, all of you are so damn talented and entertaining. Like I've said before, it's in the "therapeutic slot" for me currently. Thank you for that Smartless team. 🙏
