Being a flamenco guitarist I should not comment but I like very much how David Russell makes this more like a song or lament rather than a jumping dance. Sorry if I get it wrong.
one of the best interpretations. David the master!
I'm no expert by any stretch, but to me this is the finest iteration that I have ever heard. Rich nuance with perfect balance and playful embellishment...just beautifully done
I completely agree. David Russell is one of the best masters who knows the secret of sound
Listen to Mauel Barrueco's version... it's another very sublime version.
In reality, he has managed to turn a beautiful ober full of emotion into something boring and lacking in expression. Too slow in many parts. It breaks the rhythm and the charm. I'm sure he is a master at playing other kinds of classics, but this piece is not that. I let you here a couple examples of people with more ore less technic, but with feeling.

czcams.com/video/f4CzrXRcDjk/video.htmlsi=sqzaTtEj-JjtoKcX. Try this by a pupil of Tarrega’s played without nails, like the Maestro would have played it. Naturally the audio isn’t all that great but listen to the phrasing and appreciate the virtuosity.
Verry well done , but i believe if you give him a 300k classical guitar , the special ones . it would sound 100× deeper with reasonance ... wich does great on theyse songs.
Mr. Russell is the Everest of the classical guitar of our times ! 🙏🏻
I heard this piece a thousand times but I never get tired of it. Beautifuly played 👍🏼
Not only played magnificently by a true artist of the classical guitar, but a true, caring gentleman, as well. I was fortunate to meet him in the 1990's in Michigan and was such a nice man, very unassuming and kind.
Stunning performance. Also, his instrument is magnificent. Incredible tone
Mathias Damann.
Thanks for making such video that we can see Russell’s hands really clearly, it is a really precious video that should be spread down!!
Simply the best 👌 interpretation ever...well...jj🤠j ... after the Maestro...Tarrega of course in those Barcelona's Cafes...in the middle of the Night 🌙 ✨ and surrounded by friends and fans...with a good cigarette pending on his mouth and his heart and mind pointing to the stars 🌟 ✨ ♥ +++Vivaaa Tarrigaaa...saludos 🥰
Thank you for sharing. Lovely performance of this classic by Tarrega
Brilliant David Russell, without doubt most accomplished living guitarist. Love his playing so much, always understands the pace.
I saw him in concert in 1986. A true artist.
@@rebanelson607 He certainly is great but let us not forget Celil Refik Kaya!
Extraordinario David Russell. Uno de los más grandes intérpretes en la historia de la guitarra clásica española.
En serio no encuentras la pieza carente de feeling? Técnicamente, perfecto, pero no me gusta el feeling que no le da.... xD
Well done David Russell. Amazing Number. fine presentation.
The guitar in David Russels hands speaks in a voice of special beauty , strength and warmth .Thank you .
This is the definitive version of this piece. Russell really knows how to make guitar pieces come to life.
This. He doesnt rush it but dont make you sleep with its slow pace either. Its like he understood 100% what Tarrega wanted to say with this piece.
You said it. It is more than a performance... it is like he brought Tarrega back to life.
loco, tienes 100.000 personas que le dan mucho más sentimiento a la pieza, algunos españoles/as y otros extranjeros. A mi esta versión me parece totalmente carente de feeling.
There are so many superb interpretations of this piece, but no BEST! Every musician brings their own touch. Check out tbe Brazilian E. Lopes and the Greek Evangelos Assimakopoulos. Let me know your opinion.
this is the first person I've seen play this piece of art on a single beat without varying the BPM goat🐐
exactly! Perfection
That's not any good from a classical perspective...
in any case, you are wrong, there are subtle tempo and dynamic changes which, of course, make the piece more expressive.
In music "perfection" is failing miserably
BRAVISSIMO!!! I've been listening to this piece for 40 years and playing it for over 20 years, it's very rare to hear someone that plays it correctly and you absolutely nailed it. Judging by some of your tempo choices on certain phrases it sounds like you might be familiar with the same Segovia rendition that I grew up listening to. This is also one of my favorite Spanish encores 😉
Best version ever damn no one gets close
Sencillamente preciosa interpretación 😊
Una interpretacion simplemente sublime
Played with such grace.
Buenísima interpretación de esta obra. Sin duda un gran maestro de la guitarra!
Perfection!
absolutely the best ive heard! Most plat too fast and theres some silence between chord changes. he lets the tone keep sounding as he fingers the next so it flows beautifully❤
Excelente
Man the timing, the subtle alteration of it, pausing ever so slightly at just the right moment. Technically perfect but artistically beyond perfect. What instrument was he playing, it sounds amazing? This piece in particular demands an instrument with good bass and this instrument has that.
It's a Mattias Dammann guitar..
Brought me to tears listening to this beautiful piece of music played so passionately! Thank you
Wow. Masterpiece of art. ❤
AMAZING MIRACLE
Beautiful music with great virtuosity and amazing technique. Thank you: the joy of music lives here! ♬
The best rendition among all the players that I heard in youtube. Fantastic!
@@TyeAustinGuitarnah this one is just better
I prefer Manuel Barrueco's a bit more overall...
The most beautiful interpretation of this music I´ve ever heard! Delightful.
Great performance.
You have to have visited southern spain in summer to feel this piece. He plays it so well like he has actually spent his whole live in Malaga, Cordoba or Grenada. Masterful. Listening to this interpretation takes me back to a wonderful summer in Andalucia.
Bullshit, his interpretation is devoid of feeling. It breaks the rhythm so much that it kills the piece.
Wonderful!
👏👏👏👏 Perfect.
Beautiful playing with great sound - wonderful !
Amazing 😮
This is so beautiful and have to thank you! It brings some peace in my day.
Beautifully crafted!
A true master of this magnificent instrument!!
Masterful.
Impressive! As always!
Fantastic master, congratulations, you're the bes
David Russell is one of the best in the world.
Grande David Russell!
The master! It doesn’t get better than this.
many thanks for this superb video. Amazing.
Bravo David...! La pulsación de fondo es el alma de la pieza y no todos aciertan a imprimirle el tempo justo, que le da al Capricho toda su sensualidad oriental.
Excelente. Mucho gusto. Un maestro.
Fantastic
A masterful rendition.
Fantastic classical guitar 🎉
Por fin un capricho arsbe bidn tocado... sin vorrer... gran maestro, bravo
Excellent Performance!
Maravilloso
Absolutely fantastic!
Bien hecho!
Buenísima interpretación de ésta gran pieza de Tárrega.
Magnifica interpretaçao.❤
I was just about to write the exact same words from the line below mine..... With the addition that your pauses and high and low , apart the ultra clear notes , shows that the sound coms from inside you, almost blending into another dimension. Well done.
Modern day Maestro.
Love the chosen tempo and rubato intro
Divino, no me canso de escucharlo, también por Alexandra Whittingham, Gracias.
Fantastic :)
Precioso.
Bravo bravo
Buenísimo
Wonderful playing. I personally like Parkening's interpretation the most. It's on another level when it comes to technique and expressiveness. Very moving
Exelent😮
El Gran Maestro David Russell, derrochando calidad.
Великолепно сыграно!
Great interpretation. The tempo and phrasing fit better after the intro.
❤❤❤
💖🌼
excellent video young man :)
3:25 just wow Oo
Bravissimo Maestro! Iscritto al canale...
👏👏
I've heard Capricho Árabe done by many very good guitar players, but David Russell's I think is the best. He puts a ton of soul in it. I like it more than Andres Segovia's.
Incrível o poder sonoro desse violão, verdade obra de arte. Por favor alguém sabe a assinatura do violão?
the best of the better version !!
Could it be played better...Amazing!❤❤❤
He and Caballero... The best ever
Beautiful!! I'm a beginner. I wish I could keep my wrist as straight as you.
dont wish , practice , nothing can stop you
good luck
Work on your seating position. Practice in front of a mirror to keep an eye on your form
круто
Absolutely beautiful
I would like to know what kind of a guitar and what strings are used.
He uses Matthias Damman guitar. Strings? I don't know. 😊😊😊
Permainan yang sangat indah, penjiwaan yang sangat dalam. Gitar merek apakah yang anda mainkan?
I took the free weeks trial, can’t see a commentary or lesson by Russell for this? Just the sheet music - do you have to pay the 6.99 a month to get it?
Please contact support@guitarbymasters.com with details of this issue if you'd like to pursue it further! CZcams comments are not the best place to get a response from us, I am sorry we didn't see this until now.
Help me, I don't understand the tuning of this piece, when I tune my guitar to 440 or 432 Hz the low E string for example sounds much higher...I don't understand
Hi! For this piece, you will need to tune your low string down to a D.
You can access David's tips and comments on Guitar by Masters, but if you'd just like the sheet music with David's fingerings, we have a PDF store where you can buy the printable score! digitalpublishinginc.shop/product/capricho-arabe/ Otherwise, you can access the sheet music without his notes on imslp.org for free :)
😚🎓🎸
It is I'm sorry to say extremely rare to hear the guitar ...any kind of guitar ....played properly on CZcams.
This performance is an absolute masterclass in how the classical guitar should be played...!!
Surprise? Wow! #*×% !
Originally I studied this with the late Philip Rosheger.
Please ck out my version with improvisation; czcams.com/video/Du8bWTfUyuw/video.html
I thought this was the guy from shameless
We can and should enjoy treading the beautiful paths. This Man is beyond the top of the mountain. Up there with Paco Mclaughlin Hendrix Pass Bream Metheny and many more pure exponents of the beautiful guitar.
An interesting fact abou this man is that he never shows off, although he could.
So slow like in a dream.
It s good but I still prefer Julien Bream he adds something extra
wow, First time I don't like how David play
