  • For today's video, we thought you would take you on a behind the scenes look into a day in the life of our soap business.
    It turned out to be a very non-typical day - we even ended up at the pub and the beach, which I can say for certain doesn't happen every day! As well as showing you a little of our leisure time, the majority of our day was filled with working and for today, that involved filming one of our CZcams videos, wrapping soaps, delivering soaps to one of our stockists, making soap dough, answering emails and unboxing an exciting new selection of natural colourants that we picked up from the post office.
    If you enjoy our videos, soap making tutorials and small business chat please do give us a like and subscribe :-)
    We will be uploading new soap making videos every Friday and new behind the scenes/soap business tips every Tuesday.
    You can also follow us and find our soaps here:

    If you do head over to our website, we offer our CZcams friends 20% off purchases if you enter code "youtube20" at checkout :-)

    We're planning a move to the IOW and having a soap making business which reflects place - with botanicals found on the island and hopefully simply scenes such as the iconic graduating sand at the Needles, etc. You are such an inspiration! Your informative videos on setting up a soap business and managing the paperwork involved have convinced us we can really make this a reality. You're brilliant! Currently in Chichester area and thinking of starting with our first basic 7 variations to reflect West Dean Gardens and the plants found there (famous for chillies and orchard fruits)

    Lovely video, can’t wait to see the Xmas trial 🤩 love the soap with the coast landscape! I’m trying to do my own cosmetics and beauty products as well, did few lip balms, and I’ll try some natural deodorant this week. You’re a true inspiration Anne! Have a great week, Mayara from Peterborough 🇬🇧🇧🇷

      Thank you so much Mayara! We have been testing a few Christmas bits this week (seems so strange doing it all in July!) and all is looking good so far! Would love to hear how you get on with natural deodorant, it is the one product I have never been able to get to work to a level I am happy with so I have put it on the back burner indefinitely!

    Im in the US. Used to live close to the Pacific ocean. Not much more soul soothing than going to the beach.

      Absolutely! I sometimes go in the evening if I have had a stressful day, it really does help all the worries fade away (even if just for a short while!)

    Just recently found you and subscribed. I am a soap maker in the US. Can I ask what kind of paper you wrap your soaps with? I agree wrapping soaps is the hardest part and deciding is the worst! Enjoy your videos so much!

    I have had great success with the annatto and Himalayan rhubarb, not tried cochineal (not sure I wanted to use insects).

      I can't wait to play with them all! I have used Annatto before, but never as a powder, so it should be fun to try!

    Could you pick interesting shells from that beach to put on top of soap or would that be considered unhygienic?

      The main difference in the UK is the humidity. I grew up in a rather warm African country, but I struggle more with the heat here in the UK. Mostly because as I said it's humid, but also because it's seldom warm for long, so we're not really prepared or set up for it.

    • @TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany
      @TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany  Před 3 lety

      You have hit the nail on the head Kristy. I have been lucky enough to visit many much warmer countries (I was in Dubai some years ago for my ex's 30th birthday when it was just over 40C) and the heat somehow didn't affect me so badly, which I think is the humidity issue. Also, the fact that when I am in warmer countries I am generally there to relax and not rush around working! I think that makes a big difference too!
      Certainly don't think I could deal with 47.7 though Clivia, that sounds extreme!
