OH BOY.
Mantras automatically and instantly recharge in combat now! Their angle was also widened, allowing you to mostly hit anyone not standing directly alongside you (you still can't really effect people far behind you).
This is a considerable improvement, especially since the mantra effects were not nerfed at all, but burn me the APM for Firebrand has gone up.
Mantras are in an odd state right now. They're exceptionally strong skills (Flame does obsecene damage, Potence is more than 50% of our boon uptime, Solace has group Aegis on the last charge, Elite mantra is another source of Stability) and they grant bonus pages with Weighty Terms traited...but having to spam 3 instant cast skills to get their full effects constantly throughout the fight is a bit much.

Maybe this is cope but I feel like the other commenters are overplaying this rotation's complexity. Every single one of your utilities besides your heal is just 'use on cooldown', your heal is basically use on cooldown when it fully refreshes, and otherwise you're just doing your normal weapon rotation and dipping into tome 1 frequently to use 5, 4, or 2 on cooldown, akin to grenade kit on Engineer. Obviously the constant shuffling in and out of tome 1 isn't great but like you said in another comment if you just mentally attach it to some other skill on your weapon skill bar, you get a quickness class that, while not being Herald, does really good damage and has lots of great options for utility. Honestly if it weren't for Herald I'd love to see quickbrands in my group probably more than things like qDPS Chrono or Untamed.
I feel like you could also make this rotation even easier (at the cost of maybe a lot of damage) by replacing the runes with Runes of the Firebrand, and all of a sudden you have really really comfortable quickness providing without needing a target
@@VamanaGW2 yes it’d be a lot of damage loss to do that and for no reason, really. Quickness upkeep isn’t complex, it’s just APM. The real difficulty curve is doing damage on top of good quickness, and not needing to go overkill with boon duration to do it all.
Most of this build is just being good at improvising cooldowns and being fast. The rotation isn’t that elaborate, you just learn how each skill behaves and use them quickly.
@@VamanaGW2 Ah and I’ve already done a bit of work on a simplified tome rotation, which is about 2K dps loss for a much cozier gameplay loop. I’ll upload that sometime in the next week.

is there a dll that tracks tome skills cooldown? because it's such a pain
Not that I know of.
Eventually, you'll develop spidey senses for when something is about to come off cooldown.
I watched a rotation where I didn't use tome skills off cooldown and I was constantly like "pls open book now, 4 is ready".
Tome 5 shares a CD with Purging Flames. If you always do PF > Tome 4 > Tome 5 > Tome 2, it's easy to keep track. Tome 2 comes back off cooldown when PF is halfway through its cooldown, you can use it an extra time then
Any idea aboout opener in sangquan peak? The boss move is really annoying.
@@dy1ancat208 I’d open on offhand pistol with Jurisdiction, then use your torch 4 charges once she’s at the wall. Most of torch’s damage is a point blank AOE so you don’t want it pulsing while she’s dashing around.

is it tight with uptime or do you have some leeway?
@@davideruggieri1400 you have around 30% over cap so it’s not as cushy as Herald or Chrono, and a little less than Deadeye, but because you don’t need a target for Quickness, you shouldn’t drop unless you or ally is away from group for a long time.

Was wondering the same thing. As dumb as it sounds I like the aesthetic of axe better lol.

I’m gonna explore some simplified options for Firebrand this patch so I’ll let you know. My guess is 34-35K without pistols.

Yeahh.. mantra changes or not, cfb and qfb stay dead to me untill we get a proper tome rotation back.
Just do a simplified version. Anchor the tome usage to something in rotation.
@@Iskarel_GW2 Like PF! PF > tome 4 > 5 > 2, and ignore tome the rest of the time. Hell, you can ignore skills 5 too.
