Found myself at the birth place of Henry IV recently and supposedly Englands 1st Civil War Castle Bolingbroke Besieged and taken by Cromwell's Parliamentarians in 1643. Bolingbroke Castle was one of three castles built by Ranulf de Blundeville, a powerful Norman Earl of Chester and Lincoln, in the 1220s after his return from the Crusades (the others being Beeston Castle, Cheshire, and Chartley, Staffordshire).
