Its all about self preservation from Dynasties and Wanna be dynasty (Ruto). Ruto, Raila and Uhuru are scared that their days in calling the shots may come to an end and a new politcal dispensation might take over making them irrelevant in Kenya politics. In a situattion like this, the powers that be "circle the wagons" which is an American term meaning (a group of people who unite for a common purpose).
The Arabs have a saying "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" which suggests that two parties can or should work together against a common enemy. The common enemy is (GENZ). Dont be fooled. KK and Azimio hate GENZ gutts because power must remain within the two parties and by extension the personalities within those parties feel it is their time.
None of them are willing to make the radical changes GENZ desire. GENZ desire uprooting the entire system from the roots but KK and Azimio would like to preserve the system with a few cosmetic changes to make it appear they are being conciliatory; like Ruto has been doing; because uprooting the entire system destablaizes their controll on power and say in the functioning of Kenya.
The biggest threat to KK and Azimio existense is the shear numbers of GENZ and Millinials with one common ideology of being Partyless and Tribeless. The conciliatory tone bandied around like "Dilaogue" or "Govt of National Unity" are meant to dilute or scattle GENZ's influence from a common idealogy (tribeless and partyless) back to factory settings of tribe and party affiliation whom the beneficiaries are akin to the same forest different monkeys.
Party and Tribe have bonded Kenyas ruling elite since independence and has been the defining factor of who becomes the next president, calls the shorts in every aspect of our lives which culminates in controll of all our resources amongst the shareholders of the party and tribe.
Kenyans of all walks of life, across the breadth of the country have come to realize that our very existence and destiny as a country that desires a prosperous life for everyone regardless of tribe or party affiliation will only be achieved by shared common values of good governance, respect of the rule of law and an appreciation that regardless of our differences, where you come from, tribe you come from we are all in this together and we rise and fall as one Kenya.
