She chanted into her head, her clear voices turning into howling and crashing without harmony. Her calm demeanor turning panicked as her chorus of angels became devils.
"My Queen. They are coming closer ."
It silents every thought, fear, and hope. Her body turning cold and numb, the only source of warmth her child in her arms. If realizing that the warmth escaped her mother's embrace the princess, wailed. It made goosebumps appear on her skin. The queen looked down at her crying child. The princess had the beauty from her, but she sure she would be the same as her father, clever, kind, and strong.
A tear slipped and a shaky breath escaped her lips.
"what are my options, servant of the sky"
The Queen asked, her voice breathless and stressed but loud enough to hear over the sound of her soldiers dying outside the castles and the rushing of the servants into the warm lit room.
"I cannot save you, my grace but I can save the heir ." his voice was filled with so many emotions, shaky and gentle but strong.
She turned around as more tears escaped her eyes, and smiled at the smaller male.
"Do what you have to do, little raven, Make her shine, with each day, make her spread her wings and bring back a swarm of new glory and hope. "
It was a whisper but everyone heard and some stepped up, oathing their lives to the kingdom.
The servant of the sky nodded at her as he was given the heir, The queen planted a small kiss on the child's forehead as if giving him the strength to survive.
"So be it, I Kasanrda Queen of the northern Elves shall die but my blood, our blood will live on alongside the heroic stories and legends that will be told till eternity, Ho- "
The doors opened with a bang and the enemy soldiers flooded in, Everyone left shooked except for the protectors of her child that charged forward with bloodthirsty gazes and a determination that sparked hope into her soul and her heart that was shortly ripped out of her chest by an arrow .

Viktor fell backward, Allister now looming over him menacingly. Blood clouded his vision, fear clawed its way up his throat, and fatigue grasped his every muscle. The fair haired monarch was at an impasse. He, bested in combat by a friend gone mad, his kingdom on the verge of destruction. What was he to do? Nothing. For once he had no options. For once he didn't get to decide the fate of those surrounding him. For once, this courageous king was not a king at all, but a normal person. Suddenly everything was peaceful. Viktor had finally become what he had always wished to be. Not a king, but an average person, beatable. In an instant the world shattered though, as Allisters eyes widened and his maroon covered sword dropped from his right hand. Slowly the blue eyed villain turned, watching in horror and shock as his wife slowly collapsed. A silvery arrow tucked itself away in her kind heart. Viktor watched as his once friend, now enemy's world began to crumble. Rosalie smiled as her body touched the cold, marble floor, bright red pouring over its shiny surface. Allister ran, tears in his eyes, muttering a healing spell frantically trying to heal the fatal blow. In the back Queen Marie stood, bow still drawn. "I h-had to... i-t was the on-only way..." tears also ran down her cheeks. Viktor knew what he would have to do. Vision shaking, he reached for Allisters blade and crawled to his foe in sheer pain. How could he do this? How could he kill his best friend you ask? The real question is how could he not. Allister had gone mad, nearly destroying the entire kingdom. Nearly killing Viktor in the process. But no, that was not the answer. The truth was, Allister had tried effortlessly to revive his long dead wife, only this was not Rosalie. This was not the woman Allister loved. This was a monster. A demon that had taken her place. Allister now screaming, kept trying to revive the husk of what used to be Rosalie. Viktor grew nearer and gritted his teeth. Maria looked away, not able to bear what was coming. With a swift blade the throne room fell silent. Allisters screams became a quiet gurgling, then his gaze fell and he was no more. Viktor removed the blade with care, his friends body falling perfectly alongside his soulmate. "I'm sorry." The words were simple, but there was nothing else to say. He laid Allisters sword next to the body as the castle around them began to fall back into disrepair, Allisters magic no longer present. Viktors sight slowly dimmed, then finally, with a push from fate he fell toward the marble once more. The last thing he saw was a bowstrung queen -his queen, running. Running to him. Running amidst ruins. Those silent ruins.

Been playing Kingdom: New Lands lately and suffered a huge defeat. Almost lost my entire kingdom trying to get more land for it. Hell I even almost lost the puppy I just got. And the entire time afterwards, this song just played in my head. Now it's the dead of winter and I have to crawl out of the mess I made, with enemies close on our doorstep. Painful reckoning.

This reminds me of the villain in the book I'm writing:
His name is Patrick Aurum. He grew up away from other children, barely leaving the castle like house he lived in. In one chapter written from his perspectives, he says "if someone would ask me to describe my childhood, I wouldn't say anything. I wasn't treated like a child or acted like a child, so how could I have been one?" He was always destined to be leader of the country, because of his family. The house where he lived is right next to a city, full of extremely poor people, who don't have a lot of rights. Thus is because two people from that village killed Patrick's great-great-grandfather, an evil tyrann. So there wouldn't be any scandals, the name in the history books wee changed.
Anyway at 19 he met a boy from that village, the great-great-grandson of the people who killed the tyrant and they fell in love, slowly and without ever telling each other their feelings. Every day they would meet at the border of the city and talk for hours on end and whenever Patrick had a bad day, or was stressed (which happened a lot) Leon Trodaiche (the boy he fell in love with) would keep him going. One day however Patrick's homeschool teacher told him the truth about hus ancestry and who killed the tyrant and why people in that city had no rights. He ran to Leon, sobbing and scared of the future and Leon just hugged him, but something changed then.
Now, quick side note, homophobia wasn't as big then, but there was a lot of hidden homophobia and heteronormativity especially because Patrick would be leader. And Leon knew that he and Patrick could never be together. And he couldn't help thinking about this girl who had had a crush on him for years and he never did, because he was in love with Patrick. Leon started showing up to meet Patrick less. He was afraid. And soon he didn't show up at all. Eventually Patrick found out from Leon's brother that he had got married to the girl. So he did what was expected of him as well: he became leader; he married a woman. And he couldn't stand seeing Leon with someone else, wanted revenge for leaving him like that. So he gave the city even less rights, made them even poorer, they couldn't get jobs, couldn't go to shops, the only thing they could do was survive. Years later, it got so bad that Leon, his brother and his niece had to flea. Leon's child was left behind, they were too young to come with them. (Their name is Chase). The niece and brother made it to a safer place, where they joined a secret organisation against Patrick Aurum, but Leon didn't,although he worked for the organisation from that city. Although Patrick would have normally killed someone like Leon, he still loved him, so he just sent him home. In the time Leon was working for the organisation, he signed a contract of "the Plan" to kill Patric Aurum along with a guy called Symon Notar. (yep, even tho he loved him). Patrick Aurum found out about the secret organisation and the Plan, so all members were imprisoned or murdered, except for Leon, because he wasn't actually in the organisation,he was just working for them. Symon Notar was too young to be imprisoned for life however , so they were forced to let him out after 10 years. Like half a year before they let him out, Patrick has to stop the Plan from happening, so he sends his son Nicholas to kill Leon, because he can't bare to do it himself. Chase (Leon's child) kills Nicholas instead. Then a bunch of stuff happens that isn't really important to Patrick's story, but it ends in Leon's niece (Ava), Symon, Chase and Leon cornering Patrick, about to kill him in the house where he lived his entire life. After realising that Leon doesn't love him anymore, his son is dead because if him and that it's the only way he can still control his life/death, Patrick Aurum kills himself.
So ya, that was a long comment, but this song reminded me so much of him

When I'm playing Sea of Thieves, gathered so much loot and made the mistake of not selling them sooner, then get into a mix of constant ship chase and battle for over an hour, I'd rather sail into the Shroud and have both party's ship sink out of their own greed. This is the song I think of, I'd rather watch my loot and ship lost and taken by the sea than have it robbed. Leave the enemies to suffer the same fate too, if they're greedy.

I was trying to figure out what this song reminded me of, and it took an entire play through to figure out it was Lana Del Rey´s "This is What Makes us Girls", the parts where she was like, "there she was, my new best friend./ high heels in her hand, swaying in the wind.." or really the whole song, I guess. A little....Maybe...Just my thought.
