- Have you ever wondered what the New Testament church gatherings looked like? Although, we don’t know specifically, we can draw some examples from Scripture to help us form a picture. Unfortunately, the modern Pentecostal church has taken that same Scripture and liberally manufactured their own depiction of what the ekklesia, the church, the gathering of the body of Christ should look like. Justin and Tiffany utilize today’s episode to expose the false teachings that surround the overwhelmingly popular charismatic movement.

Straight ahead and away from turning our brains off ever again! We understand the feeling of wasted years. I guess if it helps people, we're thankful, but it's hard to look back at the time spent and time lost.

So many wonderful points; the me-centeredness of the music and "sermons" is astounding within the UPCI and their pulpits. All the while shaming their congregation who are there to KNOW GOD BETTER; is simply mind boggling. I can't believe how many YEARS it took me to figure it out. The entire UPCI organization is so unhealthy in their style of "preaching" and non-exegetical teachings.

I love when yall have clips and break down what they say. I always felt like people got so hyped up they really had no idea what was being preached.

One of the things that kept us from leaving for so long was that question, "where the will we go?". We were so afraid of not having a place to go. We knew that we loved God but it was so drilled in our head about being "in church" every time the doors were open that we couldn't imagine what we would do or where we would go. It felt like leaving the UPC church without having a place to go would be the end all of our walk with the Lord. The fear is unbelievable and you don't even realize it when you're in it! I also found that people were ok with us leaving if we were leaving to go to another UPC church but if you attended anything other than a UPC church you were just flat wrong and needed to find your way "back to the truth".
Unbelievable!! So happy to be out of it.

Haha! You can't get far into sermons/exhortation these days without hearing all the things that God wants to bless you with!
Very well done, now being outside of the bubble and looking at everything from this side of the bubble I can see clearly what I could not see when I was in it, Its obvious that these men have to say terms like this house is the house of God because they want people to feel like you’re not saved or can’t be saved if you leave. I’m thankful that when I left I knew ai loved God I didn’t leave because like “they say” you turn your back on God and your pastor” which in my case I also wrote a letter when I left and sent it out to everyone in the church I actually still run into a lot of people who sincerely talk to me and I know it’s because I made the decision to write a letter so that my side would not be distorted. And in my situation I gladly left that Pastor.
That's exactly why they say phrases like this. They want control, so they have to create fear. It's super harmful and so opposite of what an elder's position should be. Thank you for sharing!

We left our Pentecostal (not upci) church this past Christmas after being there 22 years. We left because of a narcissist controlling pastor. We’ve been visiting other churches in the area. My husband has to work 2 Sundays a month so we just go on Sundays he’s off. We don’t want to be hermits. It is good to be with other Christian friends and worship together.

Simply listening to this preaching is still triggering for me. I was also in the UPCI for three years and it was terrible. My church is very controlling, and they pride themselves on being one of the strictest churches extra rules on top of the rules set by the UPCI. I dealt with so much spiritual abuse. All of my leaders were related, so therefore there is no real accountability amongst them. They were very controlling. You had to get permission to travel work or certain job whoever you wanted to court you had to get permission to marry someone to get permission for everything just about. They bullied you from the pulpit. It was so much negativity and abuse. I think God I didn’t become an atheist after experiencing such a terrible situation. I left and I’m still healing and I’m very thankful for channels such as yours.
Oh wow...your story is so disheartening. To think that they call themselves a church, and body of Christ! It's really quite sickening. We are so sorry you went through this for 3 years. What a mess to have to come out of. And then attempt to recalibrate who God is, how He loves, and the gift of salvation. We hope you've had time to heal and process, but we will still be keeping you in our prayers. It's because of these stories that we can't stay quiet. These bullies for leaders need to be exposed.

I would fall asleep during the "preaching" cuz they would always go off from the scripture and tell stories about their life and their opinions about what you or someone else was doing wrong, etc. It was soo irrelevant and annoying. I was literally always in trouble for asking questions or trying to figure out what they were saying. I just got told I was rebellious.
Yeah, questioning doesn't seem to fit into their agenda 🤔 hmmm...
And we're with you on the annoying and irrelevant sermons, haha!
These preachers aren't full of the Holy Ghost, they're full of the Angry Ghost. How anyone can stand sitting under a preacher like that is beyond me.
